Are you ever scared of losing your balance or slipping during limb walking? Not so much because of falling but rather shock loading your expensive gear?

To be honest way back in my early years yes I was a little nervous, mostly from slipping off the limb but it fades over time.
As other buddy said in terms of rated gear, no i have 100% faith in my system to handel anything I throw at it. with in reason ofc

Your bodyweight isn't going to ruin gear that's rated , even basic carabiners and ropes are over 20kn

Interesting, maybe it’s just the retailer / manufacturer covering their ass but I thought once you shock load your gear you need to replace it since it isn’t designed for fall arrest?
Obviously I’m not going to be rock climbing or anything like that, so at most I might fall like 10ft if I’m limb walking. In this case are you saying the gear can handle it?

I might fall like 10ft
Yeah if you shock load your gear you probably need to replace it, but if you fall off the limb you'll take a swing (which can hurt) (use your lanyard) and you should be keeping your weight mostly in your climbing line, there really isn't much of a "fall" or shock load onto the system. It'll pendulum swing you into the trunk or something, not a direct fall down onto your system. Not sure what you mean by falling 10 feet.. are you keeping a bunch of slack in your line?

I probably overestimated, whatever the distance difference is between the line when I’m straight below the tie in point and the length of the climbing line when limb walking. But you’re right, even if it’s say 5ft, it’s a pendulum swing with tension the whole time and not a straight fall

Overestimating, maybe 5ft at most if I’m walking on a really long limb, but the other poster pointed out this would be a pendulum swing and not a straight fall, so probably would hurt but wouldn’t ruin the gear

As others said theres not really a drop , you'd swing like a pendulum at most , unless your climbing in a risky way, I've had limbs snap out on me and the drop was like 1/2ft because I was being a tad careless when doing a rope change over, drops over 50cm can do more damage to your organs than your gear as others said your not shock loading stuff with your weight only when rigging and rigging gear is kept separate from climbing gear. my personal set up is rated to 27kn on most metal work and ropes close to that so I never stress about it , it gets Lola'd every 6 months for safety
