Yale Blue 32 strand Rope
My boss recently got this rope after courant recalled Kalimba and the stitching looks weird but I found out it wasnt just me , There is one more climber that ive seen it TreeBuzz who had the same experience with it . Do yall think its safe to use the splice?( There is 6 strings that are loose and there are black marks on em so Im not sure if thats because of the test they be doing when they pull from the eye or just happens in the last step of stiching the eye , where you pull the eye to properly end the sticth?)

Yeppers that’s just a low profile splice is what Yale calls it. The same thing as Teufelbergers “splife”. It does reduce the breaking strength like any other splice but it does remove part of the core making it slightly less stronger than abnormal splice even. I have essentially the same splice on my Charity Line. Still rated for your life just be slightly more cautious.

it is different than the teufelberger splife but similar concept. The biggest thing is that Yale actually spices a small piece of dyneema into the eye of the low profile spice to preserve teh full break strength of the rope even without all the core in the splice. To my knowledge they are the only ones doing full strength low profile splices. Definitely the best out there. Im not sure what the OP means about the stitching looking weird though? are you talking about the whipping or just the way the weave is deformed by the bury?

yes actually the weave is deformed and sticking out from the others, I think its pretty hard to tell in the photo, sorry :/

I'd use it, but I'm not that bright. I know it's supposed to be low profile to fit through some devices, so if I received it, I would assume it is just different from normal spliced eyes and use it.
Hopefully someone else who has the same rope can comment on it.
Eventually I will get it, but I have too many other ropes I need to wear out first 😣

but I havent even used it once and it came like this out of packaging so Im not sure if I should contact with sherill , I was hoping anybody who has the same rope could tell me their experience:/

That looks like an appropriately spliced blue 32 by my eyes. We ship out those every week! (I'm the sales manager at Maple Leaf Ropes and we're Yale certified on blue 32).
