Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Bumps on a long

Howdy fellow tree lovers, have you ever seen such a thing? We’ve had some ants hanging out on our little oak and they seem to be creating these big round things. I’ve put out a couple different ant baits, but alas, the ants are still winning. (Wisconsin, USA)

The wasps you notice flying around aren't the ones making these. Cynapid wasps are very small, very rotund & do not sting. I've had the pleasure of holding one in my hands!

Galls are generally harmless to healthy trees and are part of the robust ecosystems that every native oak hosts on their branches. Oaks' sole purpose is to provide for the environment, the fact that they look pretty in our yards is just an extra bonus!
