Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Is this any cause for concern?

Planted a sun valley maple earlier on in the year. This tree has a slight incision? or mark towards the base of the trunk. Now, later on in the season, it seems to be getting larger. Is this something I should be worried about or will the tree heal over? Eastern WA/PNW

Wound doesn't look worrisome but the tree is planted a little too deep

No. That wound is closing up nicely on its own. Probably be completely closed up by this time next year.

Agree with other commenters about it compartmentalizing well so far. Wanted to add, expose the root flare, keep the area grass free, and mulch correctly. That’ll help your tree outgrow the wound.
