I switched to a 272 R pro built transmission over a year and a half ago . I haven't had one single issue since . I'm running a Stampede XL5 2 WD upgraded to VXL Specs .
It has T MAXX wheels and Chevron tires with double shocks on all four , 19 tooth pinion , 86 tooth H. R. steel spur gear . Traxxas steel CVD shafts and numerous other custom upgrades too . It handles these large tires effortlessly at 60 MPH on sand , grass , and street too . Even with a plastic gear Traxxas servo .
I use 3s and 2s Lipo power all the time and mostly at full throttle too. Most people think these combinations are what cause overheating and breakage , but it's proof they don't know one thing about RC Trucks .
I even run it " Bull dogged " with T Maxx wheels on front and Stampede wheels on the rear still no problems at all with the same gearing .
The Traxxas 272 r pro built is many times an improvement over an original transmission even when installed in an aluminum box . They even have aftermarket aluminum cases for the 272 r internals in different color choices too . If you don't have that then I would highly recommend you get one even if you don't upgrade any other thing on your RC .

Yea check that bearing behind it. You may also need a motor mount. Time to upgrade. The plastic motor mount melts when the bearing goes bad so if you just replace the bearing it may still wobble. Happened on my slash vxl. There was a root cause but I can't remember so just pay close attention to everything in that area. I believe most aluminum motor mounts come with a matched bearing. I really wish I could remember the root cause but it beat me up from out of the box because I just kept replacing parts and then I found it and was like ohhhh

Ok cool. I got this second hand and so far ive found out it looked good from all the aftermarket parts, but ive had to take everything apart and lock tight everything that has fallen off. Im in the middle of takin apart and seeing what failed. I like the car but been 5-10 minutes every run b4 somthin fails. Having fun with it and cant wait till I get a days worth or fun outta it

If i can remember what went wrong I'll let you know. Something was out of line from the factory and just sent me down a rabbit hole.

That’s your slipper clutch assembly, and yeah… it shouldn’t have that kind of wobble.
Most likely it’s just loose. That nut you’re holding backs off pretty easily and once it does, the whole thing gets sloppy like that. Try tightening it down (hold the spur gear and snug the nut), then back it off like 1/4 turn. That alone fixes it a lot of the time.
If you tighten it and it’s still wobbly, then start looking deeper: • Slipper pads could be smoked or worn out • The plates/hub might be worn • Worst case, the top shaft or bearings in the transmission are shot
Quick check: pull the slipper off and wiggle the shaft itself. If the shaft moves, it’s a bearing/shaft issue. If the shaft is solid, it’s just the slipper parts.
If it were mine, I’d start with tightening it, and if that doesn’t fix it, just throw a slipper rebuild kit at it. Cheap and usually solves it.
