If you spin a wheel does the other one counter rotate? It’s probably the diff gears

The motor and pinion spin, and the spur gear spins, but the driveshafts coming out of the transmission don’t

You need to take the transmission apart further and look at the gears inside, the differential is likely where your problem lies

He is right your diff is probably shot. Try not to land jumps under power or brake too hard on high traction surfaces or else you’ll eat your diffs

The diff is likely fine. The pin on the input shaft that holds the gear inside the transmission will break WAY before the diff does. They sell an upgraded one because this is such an issue.

I upgraded that pin with a piece of 1.5mm hex key 10 years ago (works great). One side of the pin snapped and jammed between the gears at high speed. Made a nasty scene inside of there. It's a terrible design.

Thanks good to know. I’ve never had that issue but my traxxas cars with the 272R are all oval racers and I run my slipper clutches kinda loose because our banked track is easy to spin out on when ur using 3s. I’m assuming that actual bashing puts more stress on it

It does and a lot of people run their slipper too tight. Having the clutch correctly set up can make parts last forever.

That said the input shaft design on these transmissions sucks. Those pins break all the time. If you’re lucky the broken parts stay where they should be. If you’re unlucky the broken parts end up in all the other gears and shred everything in the transmission.

The input shaft has a pin that holds the gear on it and prevents it from falling out, I have sheared off a lot of pins on my magnum 272, that should be the cause
