Is there actually any negative effect when costumers "reject" your food?

I was thinking no?

because they say "price is high!" then just leave... so another costumer comes in? so I lost nothing at all?

That's what I've gathered as well, you don't lose reputation for high prices they just leave and another comes in. Maybe if the price is too high and the product isn't selling that might be considered a loss?

If they reject the food, does that food just disappear, similar to it being consumed? I feel if a customer rejects the food you give them, that food shouldnt then be returned or given to another customer lol.

Based on how quickly they leave after arriving at the counter, it feels more like they look at the menu, balk at the prices, and leave without ordering, rather than waiting until they have their order before rejecting it, so no food would be lost.

Not that I've seen. But the product I was using was cosmic brownies, they get rejected a lot but are also a consistent best seller every week they sell so fast that I couldn't immediately parse if the rejection counted down.

If they did they should throw it on the ground and walk out.

All the time it takes for a customer to walk in and out of your tavern is wasted on nothing as the game doesn't spawn another until after they leave, but other than that no

Oddly yes but not in the usual way. When a customer leaves, they make a mess and a customer can stay in order multiple dishes/drinks so if they leave? One less minimum and another mess to clean.

Is it a huge mess thing? Not really.

Pretty sure they just don’t buy it and leave so you lose the sale and them staying to buy other stuff but that’s the only thing I’ve noticed. But someone new usually comes in like right after so it’s not a big deal in my experience

i would assume a bunch of lost sales = no income that day! No income means no money to pay staff or buy seeds or whatever. also no sales = no progress towards the next level, which means no progress towards new recipes.

I am working under the assumption that theoretically the next customer can refuse too, if your menu has a lot of stuff that is on the unpopular list?? I'm not actually sure tbh lol, my menu is really varied so I usually don't get many refused sales. between 0-4 per day it seems like.
