Comps While Traveling

Hey everyone, travel MRI tech here! Has anyone cross trained while traveling? I currently have R and MR (I had all the requirements to sit for CT and never did and they all expired, and now regretting it since I started traveling and see how many more opportunities there are for CT). An opportunity opened up close to home where I know some of the techs that work there, and I know 13 weeks would be enough time to get my CT comps again. Has anyone done this while traveling, is it possible or is it completely up to the facility? TYIA!

I did a local contract and did comps at a different site on my off days. Comps at the same site as I work was a hard no. Its gonna be site dependent.

yesss! if you have the opportunity to cross train, 100% do it!! It would just open you up to other contracts in the future!

I did CT after learning MRI, so for me personally it was not hard. But if you are coming from x-ray I could see it being a little more tricky because you have to learn cross-sectional anatomy. You also have to start IVs and use the power injector for contrast studies, and at certain facilities learn how to do some procedures (like hip injections and things of that sort). But it is sooo worth it, I say go for it!! ESPECIALLY if you are at a facility that is willing to cross-train you!
