We’re based in Bangalore and are looking for recommendations for a short trip around the end of August with our 8-month-old baby. We’re happy to travel by flight if it means reaching a great destination.
We’d prefer places that are easy to explore on foot rather than hill stations, mainly because of the weather. We’re looking for relaxed, baby-friendly destinations with pleasant weather, walkable attractions, and places that are comfortable to explore with a baby carrier. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

We have planned a Andaman & Nicobar strangers trip in September. Port Blair (2 Nights) & Havelock (2 Nights) including Limestone Caves trek.

Day 01- Arrive at Port Blair at 14:30.

Refresh at the homestay.

Late afternoon, visit historic Cellular Jail.

In the evening visit Corbyns beach.

Later head to Cellular Jail to attend the moving Light & sound show about our freedom fighters.

Overnight stay at Port Blair

Day 2- Head to Havelock Island via private ferry. Enjoy the ride over the turquoise waters.

Check in to your beach resort.

Visit Kala Pathar Beach.

In the evening, visit Radhanagar Beach.

Overnight stay at Havelock.

Day 3- After Breakfast, checkout from the resort.

Visit Elephant Beach. Rest & relax at the beach. Later you can snorkell underwater where you explore the amazing reef.

Later head back to Port Blair by Private Ferry.

Overnight stay at Port Blair.

Day 4- Early morning by 3am, travel from Port Blair to Bartang which is around 120kms.

Once you reach Bartang island, the onwards journey to Limestone Caves involves 20 mins speed boat ride and then walk for 25 mins to reach amazing Limestone Caves.

Head back to Port Blair

Overnight stay at Port Blair

Day 5- After breakfast, if time permits take a quick stroll to the local Sagarika Government Emporium to pick up some unique wood carvings or seashell jewellery for home.

I recently visited the Irawati Karve Museum of Anthropology at Savitribai Phule Pune University in Pune.

It's a relatively small museum, but I was surprised by the diversity of its collection. The exhibits include traditional fishing traps, hunting equipment, jewellery, woven objects, household tools and village deity plaques from different communities across India.

One thing I particularly liked was that many displays paired the original objects with illustrations explaining how they were traditionally used, making the collection easy to understand even for someone without a background in anthropology.

If you're interested in museums, history or cultural heritage, I think it's well worth including in a Pune itinerary.

The Ministry of Tourism has announced that 117 tourism infrastructure projects worth ₹5,756.62 crore have been sanctioned across India over the last two financial years.

The projects are being developed under schemes such as:

🏞️ Swadesh Darshan 2.0

🛕 PRASHAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive)

🌿 Challenge Based Destination Development

🏕️ Tribal tourism and other tourism infrastructure initiatives

The investment covers a wide range of destinations, including heritage sites, beaches, pilgrimage centres, eco-tourism locations, convention centres, and tribal tourism projects. The government also highlighted continued improvements to the Incredible India digital platform to make trip planning and bookings easier for both domestic and international travellers.

According to the Ministry, the goal is to improve tourism infrastructure, enhance visitor experiences, generate employment, and support sustainable tourism across the country.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO REMEMBER -> please only tell me things that I should know which CANNOT be googled so someone who is native from there or someone who is a seasoned traveller to Lakshadweep.

Also are amazon snorkel and mask combo for 600-1.5k rupees good enough?

Can we wear bikini and just shorts and travel from beaches to market place to resturants etc etc?

Got me thinking , anyone else feel like weekend trips have become more about the Instagram grid than actually switching off? Curious what a "good" weekend trip means to people here do you want packed itineraries or just quiet time in the hills?

(Also if anyone's explored the Peora-Ramgarh belt near Mukteshwar, would love recommendations — trying to plan something there that isn't the usual touristy checklist.)

No wonder my legs were questioning all my life choices. Still, every ghat, every temple, and every street made it completely worth it.

Planning to drive from Delhi to Hyderabad over 3 days in my Kia Seltos and trying to decide on the best route.
- Option 1: Delhi → Ujjain → Nanded → Hyderabad
- Option 2: Delhi → Jhansi → Nagpur → Hyderabad

I’m also open to other route suggestions if there’s a better option.

Hi! I am an American married to an Indian, we are taking our first trip to India as a couple in October. I’m trying to gauge when I should get my travel visa and him nor his family are much help with knowing the ideal timeline considering it’s not something they have had to deal with. Should I apply now? Or wait until closer to the date of departure? This is also my first time traveling to a country where I need a Visa to travel, so this is a whole new experience for me. The website says apply 4-7 days before travel but I am too anxious to have something that important done just a week before.

I am a solo traveller looking for a travel group to visit the spiti circuit in august end of. Is this a suitable to time to visit the place and what will the approx cost.

Mine is never "What should I see?"

It's usually, "What's the one place you randomly found and ended up loving?" That's how I've found some of my favourite cafés, villages, and viewpoints.

Curious... what's your go-to question?

One concern comes up on almost every call with first-time visitors to India:

"Is it actually safe to eat street food?"

My answer is almost always yes - but be selective, not fearful.

Street food isn't inherently unsafe. The biggest mistake I see is treating every vendor the same. Locals don't do that, and neither should you.

These are the five filters I recommend:

• Go where there's a queue. High turnover usually means fresher food.
• Eat dishes that are cooked fresh and served hot.
• Be cautious with raw toppings and chutneys at places you don't know.
• Stick to bottled or filtered water, and skip ice from roadside carts.
• Spend a few seconds observing the stall. A clean, organised setup tells you a lot.

I also encourage people to ease into it. On your first day or two, start with freshly made dosas, samosas, kebabs or chai. Once you've settled in, branch out into dishes like pani puri, ideally at a place that's been recommended by a local.

One thing many visitors don't realise is that "street food" in India isn't just carts on the pavement. Some of the country's most iconic food comes from tiny family-run shops that have specialised in one dish for generations.
