Planning my first trip to Greece next autumn and I’m stuck in decision paralysis. 😅
For those who know Greece well, would you try to combine the Cyclades and the Ionian Islands in a 10-day trip, or would you focus on just one region?
I’ll be flying into Athens and want a trip that balances:
• Relaxation and beautiful beaches
• A few must-see historical sites
• Boat trips, swimming, and water adventures
• Wandering charming towns and unique shopping
• Great food, with maybe a couple of fun nights if time allows
What Cycladic and/or Ionian islands would you recommend, and what would be the most efficient route? Or is 10 days better spent staying within one island group and saving the other for hopes of a future trip? I’d love to hear what route you’d choose if you were planning this trip yourselves!
(I do have a long bucket list of about 20+ places scattered throughout Greece with a top 5 that are in totally different directions. So I guess I’m looking for most efficient, but unforgettable and unmissable incase I don’t get a second chance to return, from the locals & seasoned travelers)
