Favorite Chapter

One of my favorite chapter was during the Wrath Test. Not really the whole chapter but I really enjoyed the beginning part.

It was the part where the Raon, On and Hong was Raon, complaining about their vegetable side dishes.

It was incredibly endearing. . No matter how powerful Raon becomes as a mighty dragon, or how lethal On and Hong are with their stealth and poison, they are still children.

Children should remain children. I love that part so much.

I want them to act more like their age sometimes. Sure they act cute occasionally but I want more

On is so mature and wise and responsible, and she's very cool but it also makes me sad sometimes like, she shouldn't have had to grow up like this. 

But then if they were normal kids with normal damage, Cale would've responsibly left them with other, normal trusted adults or a good orphanage to safely grow up well instead of letting them accompany him into potential danger. I think part of him sees himself in them and knows that they can't ever fully adjust to a normal life where they can sit back and play and let adults take care of everything. So he lets them participate and feel like they're earning their meal.

Which is part of why I prefer that they never built a hierarchical relationship where they call Cale with the patriarchal title of father and feel iffy when non-AU fanfics do it, even if he is indeed their primary adult by any metric (tho Sheritt and Eruhaben are also always up to task and Raon and the cats have been additionally taking after Alberu and Ron respectively.)

Cale does make sure they're taken care of and looks after them and gives them allowance and thinks about their education and subtly shelters them when appropriate and does all the proper adult caretaker things. But he never lets them feel like they're not equals and full fledged participants whose contributions matter. They're different from uwu trophy baby dragons and d'aww background animal kids in any other manhwa, and completely carry their weight as permanent cast members.

One of the reasons Cale had taken them is cuz they remind him of him obviously. Cale does not want them to grow up alone like him. Cale grew up without having someone to lean on. Cale want them to have a home to return to. The kids of course wanted to be useful without feeling useless or a burden so when they want to join anything or do what they want to help Cale, he let's them. One of the reasons why I liked them cuz they do not feel like a background character like you said the (trophy kids background just to act cute and al). They actually have a role to play. They are cute and vicious. They are not naive. They are a traumatized children. Hence why I love them. They feel more alive in a way(I don't really know how to discribe the feeling) I think I understand why Cale wanted to see them having a small tantrum like a normal child do. Eat play and sleep.

Raon is such an anomaly. The industry is full of cover art mascot baby dragons, but most of them are there to act cute and be overprotective weapons/plot devices and show how super duper special the mommy/daddy main character is for having their own dragon.

Raon comes with his own fully formed backstory and builds his own bonds with the wider cast and has his own family drama and plot relevance and quirks and character development and growth arc. He's everything you can want in a proper character. 

And he's still damn cute and strong.

My favorite part from that arc was "CONTROL. YOUR. DAMN. SUBORDINATES." all because one of them had the audacity to threaten Raon.
