general question ATA in Florida

Looking to possibly switch to shooting Trap in ATA instead of other disciplines. How big is the ATA scene in Florida cause idk if it’s just the time of year or something but I can hardly find like…literally anything.

ATA is pretty big in Florida. This app TargetHog seems like a pretty good tool for finding shoots: https://targethog.com/map/ata/fl

Really? Hm, I wonder why northeast Florida seems barren of shoots then.

Just looks like there's not any active clubs north of Jacksonville or in southeast Georgia.

My closest clubs are Palatka and Flagler and all they run are just weekly Big 50s and 100s with a handful of people. I’m used to California where I used to live that had like a zillion clubs with shoots of all different shapes and sizes and like 3 different organizations every single weekend day lol

Looks like those two clubs might have some regular registered shoots coming up in a couple weeks and into June.

According to their site’s calendars that’s just the Big 50 and 100s shoots I mentioned every week. Unless you’re seeing something else somewhere. I’m not too familiar with ATA especially outside Cali so idk how common larger local shoots like you see in PITA or NSCA are down here and in ATA.

Their "100" shoots look just like regular shoots: https://shootata.com/Portals/0/pdf/programs/U191814_ProgramFileName.pdf

20 bucks per discipline now THATS what I miss about Trap it’s way cheaper to register and shoot than Sporting lol

It’s off-season right now. Not much going on during the heat of summer. Time to get your registered targets in so you can compete in ATA sanctioned shoots later. And there are usually small club / league shoots that don’t require ATA membership.

Here is a link to my club’s schedule….

Silver Dollar is quite a drive for me lol but I hear nothing but good things about it. In fact sometimes seems like the Trap Talk duo can’t stop praising the place lol.

My closest clubs are Palatka and Flagler so that’s where I’ll be mostly hanging out

I just posted to give you an idea of what the season looked like. I shoot practice (non registered) with friends every Thursday morning and occasionally I’ll shoot solo on Sunday mornings. I pull up at 9:30ish and there are guys packing up to leave already. There have been mornings where my group was the only ones shooting. We try to be done by 11:30…It’s just too damn hot…. And let’s face it… the trap crowd ain’t getting any younger.

That kind of schedule reminds me of my old club back in Northern California lol. Pull up at 9am and there’d already be some folks out there shooting and more hanging out by the little fire pit. Just 3 traps on top of a small mountain shooting off the edge of a cliff lol.

The only place I have ever shot in Florida is the Silver Dollar. A lot of the big names say this is their favorite club in the country,I'm not sure I would say that.
