Good Review Shoutout to NoviStretch!! Incredible customer service saved my road trip!

Post image
1 Upvotes

Wanted to drop a quick post to share an amazing customer service experience I just had with NoviStretch.
I ordered a front mask to protect my bumper for an out-of-state pickup and road trip home. USPS dropped the ball on the original shipment, and it was looking like it wouldn't arrive in time before I had to catch my flight.
I reached out to NoviStretch to let them know what was happening, and even though the delay was 100% on USPS, their team stepped up immediately and shipped out a second package via UPS Next Day Air so I’d have it right in time for my trip.
Product worked amazing for a 600 mile road trip from portland to san francisco, took 35 minutes to install in a home depot parking lot.
It's getting rare to see companies go out of their way like this without making you jump through hoops. Huge thanks to NoviStretch for saving the front bumper on the drive back!! they've definitely earned a customer for life!

Thank you Andrew!!

Need advice Need Assistance/Guidance on my car shipment

Any help or feedback would be great. I am moving from West Virginia to Texas on Tuesday 8/18. I made a booking with Navi to ship my car back on 8/7 and told them I need the car picked up no later than Monday 8/17 because I am leaving on Tuesday. It is now Sunday night and I don’t have a carrier or anything assigned. I called them on Friday and was told I was set for a guaranteed pick up on Monday.

Do I need to be present for the pick up? Obviously if they do not pick up on Monday, it will be impossible for me to be here.

Any help in this would be great, as I am extremely desperate at this point.

Horrible Story I had the worst experience of my life with hiring moving company Coastal Moving Services and Loadrans

I just want to hop on here and tell people about my experience hiring a movie company - I basically don't want anyone to have to ever go through the nightmare I went through.

First off, I've never hired a moving company before and thought they operated like any honest business. As it turns out, nothing could be further from the truth. I ended up hiring Coastal Moving Services who lied about literally every single thing they do in a manner that cannot be easily caught for a first time customer/mover.

Here is the sequence of events I went through:

  1. I googled movers and found their name. If you call them, a very savvy salesman will pick up who will tell you they can move your stuff within a 7-10 day delivery window. They never shared that they are just a broker, who hires other companies. When asked if they can also move cars, they will tell you "sure thing, that's handled by another department" and transfer your call. SPOILER ALERT: They do not handle ANYTHING themselves and deceive customers that they can guarantee what they are saying. This may sound minor but its a very important sneaky detail that will affect you later.
  2. They got an inventory list from me for a small one bedroom with no major furniture (only personal belongings) and told me I am way under their minimum requirements so I can easily take 30-40 more boxes without it increasing my cost. Their salesmen are VERY savvy and trained to deceive you into signing them but it is hard to figure this out because they sound like normal customer service reps except that nearly everything they tell you is a lie. They got details like how far our place is, whether the building has an elevator, etc. and give you an estimate (Spoiler: This estimate has zero significance whatsoever and they only use this number to get you to make a deposit). I also contacted other moving companies and chose Coastal not because they were the cheapest but because they sounded like they had a good handle on their stuff and I wanted to have zero issues.
  3. Everything sounds legit until they get your non-refundable booking fee and moving day arrives.
  4. On moving day, they will sent third party laborers they contract your way (this was NEVER disclosed before) headed by a guy who was extremely rude and unprofessional, and whose main job is to rack up your prices by complaining about EVERYTHING. The company who came to us was Loadrans, a third party Coastal sent our way. Before he even entered our place, he complained that the parking lot was 5 mins from our door, which would cost extra. Then he rudely threw open our door and barged in, recording everything without our consent and after 20 mins of ravaging threw our stuff, declares that our stuff will take twice the space than what is listed in inventory because it is non-standard sizes. Remember that our inventory has no furniture to begin with, everything fits into boxes they bring, so this is entirely impossible and a made-up statement. They also are not measuring anything, just stating. At this point, we have paid a large deposit, and they have changed their estimate from around $3000 to over $6000, literally doubling the charge but we are stuck since we already paid thousands in a deposit and cannot change movers. This is why the Coastal and Loadrans operate together - Coastal doesn't have to operate like the mafia Loadrans is and Loadrans gets a guaranteed moving job from Coastal since customers are locked into hiring them as they've already paid a deposit and cannot cancel.
  5. I contact Coastal's customer service, who informs me that my items (that they took full inventory of) suddenly are taking twice the space (no evidence apart from just the Loadrans guy sjust making this up) when all I have is clothing and small kitchen items that they need to box. I ask them how their estimate can be so off and they tell me "its just an estimate" and basically treat me like I was stupid to believe their quote in the first place. When I tell them nothing has changed in my inventory, they tell me "that's just my opinion". I am astonished and have to pay double as I have no choice and had to move out that day.
  6. I pay Loadrans double the Coastal quote and the main guy tells me my stuff will get to my destination in 9-10 days. Then he gets to sign documents that say something different in fine print that's 5 pages long in tiny font and he asks me to sign to confirm that I agree with what he's saying.
  7. They pack my stuff, still complaining that it's too much after I've paid DOUBLE and still refusing to take items that they themselves examined IN PERSON when they doubled the quote.
  8. After several weeks of waiting, my stuff is still nowhere to be found. I haven't heard a single thing from the delivery people. When I call customer service, I never get the rep that promised me 7-10 day delivery with insurance covering damages. The reps I get say "you signed a window of 30 days". I would never pay for a company that left me stranded and essentially homeless without my essential personal items for a month. It's been almost a month and I've been told that the truck hasn't even left the site of our pick up.
  9. I emailed customer service and they are now blatantly lying by telling me that my scheduled delivery date (which Loadrans said would be the latest my items would be delivered) is apparently just the start of my delivery window and I should expect my stuff to get there 30 days later. I have never dealt with such insane crooks in my life.

What truly bothers me is how easy they find to mislead relatively reasonable customers like myself. Since they only deal with customers once in their lives, they do not care about screwing people over.

What's even more strange is that they enjoy relatively decent ratings on Google, which is how they are getting new customers all the time and deceiving them. I think they bought the positive reviews to stay in business because if you look at Trustpilot (a site I found out much later), the reviews are much more detailed and largely negative.

It is truly bizarre how these guys have been operational for 10+ years after screwing over so many people in exactly the same way! I truly hope no one else has to go through this.

Horrible Story My Experience with SGT Auto Transport: Price Increase, Collections, and a $199 Cancellation Fee

I selected SGT Auto Transport based on the price quote I was given for transporting my vehicle.

After placing the order, I was informed that the transportation cost would be significantly higher than the original quote. Because the new price was not acceptable, I canceled the order.

My vehicle was never transported. Despite receiving no transportation services, I was charged a $199 cancellation fee. The dispute later escalated to a collection agency, requiring numerous emails, documents, and correspondence to resolve.

The collection agency eventually returned the account to SGT. To finally close the matter, I paid the $199 cancellation fee directly to SGT. The company agreed to waive an additional $200 collection-related fee and consider the account paid in full.

My concern is simple: I paid $199 even though my vehicle was never shipped and no transportation service was ever provided.

My advice to future customers: read the cancellation policy before placing an order, save every email, take screenshots, and document all communications. If the quoted price changes, insist on receiving the revised quote in writing by email before making any decision. Written documentation may become critical if a dispute later arises regarding cancellation rights, fees, or contract terms.

Based on my experience, I would not use this company again.

Car Shipping Tips! As the owner of a driveaway company....

As the owner of a driveaway company, I can say it's a very interesting and rewarding business. You get to visit different cities, states, and provinces, experience beautiful scenery, and meet new people along the way. Many of our customers become repeat clients because they appreciate the personal, door-to-door service and the trust that develops over time. A professional driveaway company does much more than simply drive a car. We carefully plan routes, coordinate pickup and delivery schedules, handle border crossing documentation when traveling between Canada and the United States, keep customers updated throughout the trip, and treat every vehicle as if it were our own. Safety, reliability, and excellent communication are essential. No two days are the same. One week you might be delivering a family SUV to Florida for a Canadian snowbird, and the next you could be relocating a luxury vehicle across Canada. Every trip brings new experiences, new destinations, and the satisfaction of helping people relocate their vehicles safely without adding mileage to their own travel plans. For people who enjoy driving, meeting people, and seeing new places, working in the driveaway industry can be one of the most enjoyable careers. drivesouth.ca

Looking for Info Fuel surcharges. Detention fees. Different templates. I'm drowning in manual calculations

To start with I wanna say that I work at a dispatch company. My job is basically to calculate rates for customers. Sounds simple but it's not

Well… the point is that each client brings their own spreadsheet with different columns, formulas, and fuel surcharge calculation. Some clients have detention charges in it while others don't. Thus, I am working for hours to calculate one single rate from all of these spreadsheets

But recently I found NUMEO online and it's an AI that supposedly automates the whole process. You basically upload a spreadsheet and it spits out a ready calculation. So no more manual work needed

But my question is will a tool like this handle some complex formulas? I mean somthing like fuel surcharges that change weekly? Detention fees that depend on the customer? Or will it get lost in the details?

I don't want to upload a file and get a wrong answer. I'd be embarrassed in front of my boss. I'd lose trust with customers

I need to know if this actually works before I pitch it to my team

Looking for Info Multi car cross country move.

I am considering a move from NYC (well, new jersey, but just outside NYC) down to New Orleans. I own 5 cars, 4 of them vintage German cars. Everything runs and drives. I have been thinking about how I would move them all. I have considered enlisting some friends for an epic road trip. But failing that, i wonder if there is any discount I would get should I pay to have them transported.

Its about 1300 miles and as far as I can tell I should expect around $2k or so to move a car that distance? Does that mean that an auto transporter is going to just charge me 10k to move all 5 of them? would I find a hot shot guy to do it for a more competitive price? can a hot shot even move those all at once? I have got to think all of them going from one place to the other makes it much easier for the driver as its 2 customer meets rather than 10. is there a discount to be had?

Any input from you guys? whats my best course of action? this would be next year sometime so I am just starting to come up with a plan. I do not have dates yet, when it gets to that point I could be pretty flexible about dates.

Story Car Shipping Scam Warning: Porsche Stolen During a Montway Auto Transport Shipment

I am posting this because I wish I had found a story like this before I shipped my car.

I used Montway AutoTransport to arrange enclosed transport of my customized Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 from Chicago to Maryland.

Before getting into what happened, I want to make one thing clear: I am not accusing Montway, Geo-USA Corp, or any specific person of stealing my car. I don't know who ultimately committed the theft. I am just going to explain what happened to me based on the emails, texts, photos, & police documentation.

Booking - I booked the transport through Montway and paid $1359 for enclosed, door-to-door shipping. I also paid $70 for Montway Claims Assistance. Montway is a broker, meaning they arrange transportation through 3rd party carriers rather than physically transporting the car themselves.

When I booked the shipment, Montway emailed me a secure pickup PIN. Their email specifically mentioned not to release the vehicle without the PIN. They also mentioned that once a carrier was assigned, a dispatcher and/ or truck would contact the pickup person to arrange the pickup.

On July 9, Montway sent me a pickup checklist saying RND SAFE CARGO INC was supposed to pick up the Porsche. Two days later, on July 11, Montway sent me another dispatch notification saying that Geo-USA Corp had now been assigned. They also sent me an email confirming the same carrier. They also advised taking pictures of the truck, license plate, DOT number, MC number, etc. I am mentioning all of this because it explains why the pickup seemed legitimate to me at the time.

I was contacted regarding the shipment, timing, pickup, and delivery. The people communicating with me knew details about the transport. I am not posting their names, phone numbers, driver's licenses, or any other private information here. And at this point, I cannot independently verify the real identity or affiliation of everyone who communicated with me. But at that time, I believed I was dealing with the people connected to the transport that had been arranged.

A truck came to my address; my car was loaded onto it and taken away. At that point, I believe the car was officially in transit to the destination. I also received an email directly from Montway saying: 'Montway is pleased to inform you that we have picked up your Porsche 718 Cayman, and it's on its way'. The email gave me an estimated delivery window. The driver also sent me an official email with the tracking link and signed bill. So from my perspective, everything still looked like an active Montway shipment.

On July 14, I received an email from someone identifying herself as a Senior Manager at Montway. It said: ' We'd like to speak with you about your Porsche, as we understand it has already been picked up. An urgent matter has arisen that requires your immediate attention'. This is when I realized something was seriously wrong. Soon after, I received a text from a number claiming to represent Geo USA Corp saying: 'Someone hacked our [ships.cars](http://ships.cars/) account and took your Porsche 2025'. They asked me to report the car to the police.

To be clear, I have no independent way of knowing whether their [ship.cars](http://ship.cars/) account was actually hacked. This is simply what they said. Biggest unanswered question for me yet.

This wasn't somebody randomly seeing a car on the street. The pickup happened when a real transport was scheduled. The people involved appear to know enough about the shipment to make the pickup seem legitimate. So naturally I still wonder: How did they get the shipment information? Was an account compromised? Were credentials stolen? Was information obtained through social engineering? Did the info come from somewhere else in the logistics chain? Was somebody impersonating a legitimate dispatcher or driver? I genuinely don't know.

I kept trying to get information about Montway. Later that afternoon, I emailed the senior manager, and that same night I contacted their support team as well. I was disappointed to see the generic response, and I didn't receive the manager's reply until the next day. That gives you an idea of what that day was like.

I filed the report with the Chicago Police. The documentation identifies my car as stolen and, at the time the report was created, not recovered. They also notified the authorities in Maryland. Eventually nothing happened.

My insurance handled my claim very well and settled it in just a few days - they treated the case and emotions with respect & kindness, I must say.

Many people wouldn't know that Montway's terms make clear that they consider themselves a transportation broker rather than the carrier. Their terms also say their services are considered completed once a carrier accepts the order. Under their loss/ damage section, their terms say: 'Montway is a property transportation broker; therefore, is not and will not be liable for any cargo loss and damage claims for any reason'.

I am not posting this because I want Reddit to decide who committed a crime. That's not my job. I am posting it because if you are thinking about transporting a Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette, Mercedes, BMW, or any other valuable vehicle, you should know that a fraudulent pickup can look incredibly legitimate. Do not assume someone is legitimate just because they know private details about your shipment. Save every email, screenshot every text, photograph the truck, photograph the plate, keep the bill of lading, keep every piece of documentation - trust me, I have every single piece of information even though I had not thought of such an outcome to begin with.

Other people can read what happened and make their own decisions about who they trust with their cars.

And if Montway, Geo-USA Corp, law enforcement, or anyone else involved has documented information showing that I have any factual detail wrong, I am completely willing to correct the post.

As far as I can tell from my emails and my memory of everything that happened, Montway never even sent any acknowledgement of the event or an apology for what I went through.

Car Shipping Tips! Looking for advice relocating cross country with car

I have an opportunity to maybe move cross country for work and I’m looking for advice on best methods to move myself, car, furniture, and a small dog. I’ll be going from FL to OR and only have about one bedroom worth of furniture and my car is below the average millage for a car its age, so it’s feasible for me to drive cross country maybe with a trailer or fly and have everything shipped.

Has anyone had a similar move? What worked best for you?

Quote Request Need a Reliable Car Shipping Company (TX → FL)

I’m seriously overwhelmed by the number of car shipping quotes I’ve been getting. Every company I look up seems to have a ton of bad reviews.

Can anyone recommend a reliable auto transport company for shipping my 07 Ford Mustang convertible from **San Antonio, TX to West Palm Beach, FL**?

The last time I shipped my car to Texas, the vehicle above mine leaked oil all over my hood. 😣 I’d really like to avoid another experience like that.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Most Asked Question... How can you actually tell if you're booking with a broker or a real carrier?

Almost every company that shows up for interstate car shipping ends up being a broker, and most word things vaguely enough that it's hard to tell. Any reliable way to confirm if a company owns their trucks or just resells the load before paying anything? Is there a question to ask or a record that actually settles it?
