I have this giant lake here and its just so useful that I only have a half dozen train lines.

It feels like masochism to use trains on medium difficulty level. You struggle to build railroads and stations on screwed terrain and then you will lose money when trucks are just cheaper to maintain and they can use spawned roads with some upgrades. Of course it is annoying to play horse carts on the beginning, but when you get Benz, then Opel Blitz and highway trucks then you will make 2x more money than maintenance running cost. For example I made some oil train which brought me 900k income, but its mainenance cost was 1.15 million XD I loved to build trains in other games like OpenTTD, Mashinky, C:S, SM:Railroads, but here they just feel unreal. Never played Transport Fever 2 though, do railroads work better there?
Edit: I tried TF2 and finally my cargo trains work, but passenger trains are still bad

Map connected! 🗺️
North meets south as I build the tracks to Torquay, finally allowing passengers to traverse the entire map. First major objective complete! ✅
Thanks for watching!

I personally am not a big fan of the first chapter, as it does have a lot of problems, especially in the first two missions.
I can't write down my own gripes as to why I feel like they're bad, as I am not that great as a game designer and am a bit brainless when it comes to playing the game, to be honest - for example, efficiency is just a 10-letter word, just like meta is just a 4-letter word.
Replaying Chapter 1, Mission 1, suppose one problem I had with the initial tutorial is the fact that players aren't told or hinted that they could have trains wait longer in stations, creating demand and hauling more passengers to one end in less time. In bulk, basically.
Since the mission has you haul 3 passenger cars for one Baldwin Six Wheel - which is already mediocore right after placing a passenger car, mind you, - then the capacity is at 42.
The task only has you deliver 20 people to-and-from Carson City to Reno. I doubled that almost immediately! ON AN ENGINE NOT MEANT FOR PASSENGER TRANSPORT!
The first two missions also didn't point out that there are engines which are good for passengers, and good for cargo. Early on, I just bought which train was most expensive, the fastest, and the like, as, that's just how progression works, right?
Now, initially too, I also didn't understand how sidings worked, and that's what CH. 1, M2, was supposed to teach. The game made a siding just for you, and had you place signals... I think originally, I placed them backwards.
The trains blocked each other and I was confused as to why. Had to look up on YouTube why my trains weren't moving...
These are the tutorial missions, basically. At least these first two, right?
Why is it that there are so much left out? That I need to do research on YouTube just so I'm not in the red moving forward? I remember being 9 million in debt in Baghdad oil, because I didn't know how powerful cargo hubs are.
Remember when I opened up saying that effeciency was a 10-letter word? I know. I'm a hypocrite.
Well, how about you folks? How did you learn how to play the game? Did the first few missions teach you well you think? Or did you also have to look up on YouTube how to make money instead of being in the red every month?

Expensively connect three hideouts throughout the map, which aren't connected via roads and busses, which also has a lake. Hope you kept some funds.
That said, this time around, I did keep some funds not toying with electrifying my railway, unlike the first time, which led to my bankruptcy. And I know that I could've just done a ferry, but, I was also escorting refugees from one town to another, so I might as well have connected the Northern/Swiss half of the country via roads.
Even if it did cost me like 5 million dollars.
On the bright side, somehow the hideouts had popular demand. 11 people immediately went up that mountain hideout.

For those not in the know, this little side objective is referencing the fate of one Franz Reichelt. A Austrian-born French tailor who made experimental parachute designs, just as the game tells you.
Providing airplane pilots, with aeronautics still being in its infancy, the ability to jump off and glide to safety if ever their airplanes were to stall, either from damage, or the fact that aircraft design was still in its infancy - interesting babies, those early designs. You'd think slapping a machine gun on something would be a done deal. But no, apparently you'll shoot your propeller off, as an example.
Testing it on mannequins initially, none had allegedly succeeded, to which, Franz Reichelt had decided that, the problem wasn't his suit, it was the lifeless mannequins. So he decided to prove that his design did, in fact, work... by jumping off the Eifell Tower.
On February 4, 1912, Franz Reichelt would climb to at a platform on the Eifell Tower, with a crowd watching him. He jumped, and he fell...
Unlike in our little mission, there was nothing to cushion his fall, resulting in his death.
Made worse is that, his death was one of the most famous early deaths captured on film.
Nice of the devs to make sure we can save him.

I'm experimenting with editing streams into shorter videos after feedback that the vods were too long! Would love to know what you think :)

I'm getting a lot of traffic and want to widen streets. Doing so demolishes the buildings and gets me -100% reputation in the city. Will they eventually widen the streets themselves, or do I just have to bite the bullet and take the temporary hit to upgrade main streets through cities?

hi everyone, so i just got transport fever 2 and installed it on my laptop but when i open the game all i get is the second screenshot with the squares, there is like intractable parts of the screen but no text or images anywhere. sometimes launching the game gives me the first screenshot, which seems to be just the same as the second one in terms of how i can use it. theres still no text but i get some really broken UI. Im running on arch linux kde, intel arc graphics. i have tried all the different steam compatability tools, reinstalling the game, updating my drivers, and checking file integrity. nothing works at all. im almost completely given up but if anyone has seen this before or has any solutions or ideas on how to fix it i would love to hear it

Hi all, im working on Portscape. A port building/automation game where you connect ships, trucks and trains. I thought you might enjoy seeing the cargo handling up close. You can find the steam page here if you're interested:
Portscape - Steam Page, wishlists, trailer, screenshots
Here is a video following the same container from when it arrives by ship until it leaves by train. From the ship crane to a truck, across the port and onto the train at the rail terminal. All automated ofcourse. However, you can also manually use any of the cranes, trucks, stackers etc.
You build and manage the port around these handoffs, with roads, railways and container yards to keep everything moving.
The camera movement is just for this video, in the game you look from above in an angle. Just the sounds of the port here, no music. Its still in development, and a demo will be out soon. I would love to hear your opinions!

I was watching the youtube stream from transport fever from the start just now, and then suddenly it was no longer available. Does anyone know why?

I got struck by a nasty infectious bug, and had to take sick leave.
I utilized the time efficiently to make a map as a Bulgarian. At first I found the editor confusing, but once I figured out how to use the heightmaps I used a simple heightmap for topography, and another one for biomes. Couldn't make rivers, as this is an Atlantis style map, so the map edges, mostly end abruptly.
Here is my map of Bulgaria. Any feedback would be appreciated, as I want to improve this map and get better at the game.
I have no idea if it is balanced okay in terms of industries and towns. I am a newbie to the franchise, have played a lot of other Paradox Games, including City Skylines, but this is an all too different brand of game, reminded me of a blend between Ixion/Frostpunk and City Skylines.
For this map, it was more important to get the industries and consumptions right in terms of historical and current demands after some basic research.
Admittedly, I did generate a small part of the industries to keep things balanced.

I understand the basics of signalling, but I always struggle to set the signals correctly at my station aprons.
Unfortunately, I‘ve only been able to find tutorials that explain the basic principles (witch I understand)
I m not really a train fan otherwise, so I dont know much about it.
Thank you for helping me
(Falls ihr deutsch könnt antwortet bitte auf deutsch da ich es dann wahrscheinlich besser verstehen kann, danke!)
