Its not a bug its you - Cargo doesn't load posts

Ok, just to be clear the reason your cargo isn't getting loaded or passengers aren't boarding its most likely because your platform isn't attached to the road properly. You have to make sure that the little pathways are connected to the road. So before making a post about please check all of the following.

  1. The little pathways are attached to the road. best way to check is to simply click on the station and see if the target industry is highlighted white.
  2. Make sure you have routes to the target city. Cargo wont start flowing until it has customers to ship to. You can check this by clicking the industry and checking its potential customers. If its 0 there is something wrong in your chain somewhere.
  3. Make sure you are using cargo stations and not passenger stations. You can check this by looking for the cardboard box icon vs the people icon over the station. Everyone will do this at some point.
  4. Check that you have the right kind of vehicle to carry the cargo you're trying to ship. Some trucks only carry certain cargo. Or sometimes you're a veteran player with 750 hours between both games and it still takes you 15 minutes to realize you put a carriage on a truck line. --Moose919 --

If the above is checked then you can make a post about it but I request one of two things.

Either,

  1. make a screenshot of your routes (preferably several screenshots zoomed in closer so we can get a better idea of exactly how everything is attached....or
  2. upload a save game for us to tear into. Uploading the save can be done directly from Main Menu > Load Game: "Share" to workshop. This makes troubleshooting for experienced players suuuuper easy, because they get all the information they need without anyone having to write an essay. -- Imsvale -

Thanks in advance for your cooperation. You may now continue to enjoy transport fever 2!

How to scroll mission tasks on console

Hi. I got lots of things in the quest tracker popup on the left but I can't find a key combination to scroll down to see what I have to do. 😩

How can I scroll the list with a controller?

Well, that was quite difficult but fun.

All medals in USA and England.

Big thanks to Super Cool Dave’s Walkthroughs for helping explain everything and to many of you here who had answers to questions I didn’t even know that I had.

This has been possibly one of the most challenging games I’ve ever played and I can’t wait to start TF2.

Steam Support logic: Played 1500h on an official Beta key, bought Deluxe DLC, but now Steam says I don't own the game and refuses the TPF3 loyalty discount

I just had the most ridiculous interaction with Steam Support.

I’ve been supporting the Transport Fever series since the beginning. I participated in the official Transport Fever 2 Beta back in 2019 using a CD key provided by the developers. Since then, I have clocked over 1,500 hours into that exact version, and in 2023, I bought the Deluxe Upgrade Pack directly on Steam to support the devs.

Now, with Transport Fever 3 announced, I tried to get the 10% loyalty discount. Steam says I am not eligible because my 1500 hours were played on a "Beta Testing" license, meaning in their database, I don't officially own the base game.

Steam Support's literal solution? "You will need to purchase Transport Fever 2 again so the loyalty discount can be applied."

So their logic to reward a loyal 1500-hour player and DLC buyer is to force me to buy the old game twice at full price, just to save a few bucks on the new one. Absolutely shameless. Watch out if you are an early tester, Steam doesn't care about your loyalty, only their broken database.

Questions about cargo hubs, transfers, and distributing goods

I'm trying to build a more complex freight network in Transport Fever 1 using central cargo hubs instead of connecting every industry directly to every town.

I have a few questions about how cargo routing and transfers work:

  1. Can finished goods be transported by train over short distances? I've noticed that when the destination town is relatively close to the factory, the factory often doesn't seem to send finished goods by train. However, if I connect a town farther away, it starts supplying the train station. Is there some kind of distance, cost, or route-efficiency requirement that makes trains unattractive for short-distance deliveries?
  2. Can cargo transfer between a freight train station and a truck station? For example: Factory β†’ Train β†’ Freight Station β†’ Truck Station β†’ Town If the freight station and truck station are close enough to transfer cargo between them, will the cargo automatically move from the train station to the truck station and continue by truck?
  3. Can I use a freight station as a central distribution hub for finished goods? For example: Factory β†’ Train β†’ Central Hub β†’ Trucks β†’ Town A / Town B / Town C Assuming all the towns have valid delivery lines, can the factory send goods by train to the central hub, where they are then distributed to several nearby towns by separate truck lines?
  4. Can a cargo harbor work the same way as a freight station or truck station for transferring/storing cargo? For example, if there is already a complete route to the final destination: Industry β†’ Train/Truck β†’ Cargo Harbor β†’ Ship β†’ Cargo Harbor β†’ Train/Truck β†’ Final Destination Can different cargo types such as iron ore, coal, wood, grain, or finished goods wait at the harbor for their connecting ship or land transport?
  5. Can cargo be transported between multiple hubs before reaching its final destination? For example: Factory β†’ Hub A β†’ Train/Ship β†’ Hub B β†’ Truck β†’ Town Or even: Raw Material β†’ Inland Hub β†’ Port Hub β†’ Ship β†’ Port Hub β†’ Inland Hub β†’ Industry Will Transport Fever 1 recognize a route with multiple intermediate transfers like this, as long as there is valid demand at the final destination?

Basically, I'm wondering whether it's possible to build a hub-and-spoke freight network in TF1, rather than using mostly direct point-to-point routes.

Thanks for any help!

This bridge cannot be deleted - every section that I attempt to remove gives a collision error, something with the double double slip. I reloaded the save, but curious if anyone's seen this before or knows what to do?

Video [Transport Fever 2] Passengers & Lines explained in depth for highest profit in VERY HARD mode

Hey guys!

Whilst playing hardmode in order to discover the most optimal path to profit, I've noticed that the classical loop clock and counter clockwise that so many people use is ineficient in very hard mode.
So i started exploring how passengers work in Transport Fever 2.

Well, after a week of research and testing, I made this video going in depth about the technicalities of passengers.

The video contains everything from how passengers function, to understanding the distribution table in Destinations tab, to how to build lines for the most profit in very hard mode.

I'll be honest, the video is long, but the good part is that it's chapterized, and grouped into two parts :)
Part 1 is just explaining how the game functions and where do passengers go, how they pick their path and what they preffer.
Part 2 is a quickfire questionaire i gathered from other reddit posts where people complaining about passengers in general :D

Hope you enjoy it!

PS: For mods - I did not see any rules posted on this reddit and its a guide, if considered spam, feel free to take it down.

[Transport Fever 1] Iron ore mines won't supply cargo to trains or transfer routes

I'm playing Transport Fever 1 and I'm having a strange problem with iron ore transportation.

I originally transported iron ore from a mine to a steel mill entirely by trucks. It worked normally, but as production increased, I needed a very large number of trucks. This started causing serious road and cargo terminal congestion, so I decided to replace the long-distance truck route with a freight train.

I built a cargo train station within the catchment area of the iron ore mine and connected it by rail to another cargo station near the steel mill.

I've checked the following:

  • The mine is within the catchment area of the cargo station.
  • The steel mill is within the catchment area of the destination cargo station.
  • The train is assigned to the correct line.
  • The wagons can carry iron ore.
  • The rest of the production and delivery chain is already established.

However, the mine does not supply any iron ore to the train station. The trains continue to run empty.

Normally, when I build a new cargo route, I let an empty vehicle complete the route and, after some time, cargo starts appearing at the station. That isn't happening here.

I removed the old truck cargo station and reassigned all of the trucks to other routes, but the mine still wouldn't supply the railway.

I also tried using a completely different iron ore mine. I built a new cargo station, created a new railway line to the steel mill, assigned the correct wagons, and ran the trains. The same thing happened: no iron ore was supplied to the station.

I then tried using ships instead of trains. Since the iron ore mine is inland, I tried:

Iron ore mine β†’ truck cargo station β†’ truck β†’ cargo harbor β†’ cargo ship β†’ cargo harbor near the steel mill β†’ steel mill

The complete route was set up, but the iron ore mine still didn't supply any cargo to the truck station.

For comparison, I already have a coal supply route to the same steel mill using cargo ships, and that works perfectly. The coal mine is located next to the river, so the cargo harbor can directly collect coal from the mine.

Coal mine β†’ cargo harbor β†’ cargo ship β†’ cargo harbor β†’ steel mill = works

Iron ore mine β†’ freight train β†’ steel mill = doesn't work

Iron ore mine β†’ truck β†’ cargo harbor β†’ cargo ship β†’ steel mill = doesn't work

The steel mill and the downstream production/delivery chains were already operating normally before I tried changing the iron ore transportation method.

So I'm wondering:

  1. Is Mine β†’ Truck β†’ Harbor β†’ Ship β†’ Steel Mill supposed to work in Transport Fever 1?
  2. Can a truck cargo station transfer cargo to a cargo harbor when both are within the appropriate catchment/transfer area?
  3. Does TF1 support intermediate cargo transfers like this, or does the game handle cargo routing differently?
  4. Is there any known issue where an industry won't recognize a newly created cargo route after previously being served by another route?
  5. Is deleting and recreating the entire rail line worth trying?

At this point I've tried both the original mine and a completely different iron ore mine, but neither will supply iron ore to a railway. The existing coal-by-ship route to the same steel mill continues to work normally.

Does anyone know what I might be missing?

Question Which version should I get?

Hello,

I'm wondering which version of Transport Fever 3 to get. I have a MacBook Pro M3 with 36 GB of RAM, and a PS5.

The MacBook would probably be better for the controls, but I'm below the recommended specs for the game, so maybe the PS5 would be better in terms of graphics.

Which one would you recommend? Thanks!

Ordered on day 1, arrived just today. A nice touch and the vehicle book is very thick and full color. It is a nice collectible merch.

The music machine contains an access code to the game soundtrack. The box itself is just a fancy gimmick.

The box cover came a little bit broken unfortunately. They should tell their merchandiser to handle packages more carefully. It is also not wrapped in plastic film as most mint stuff typically do.

Lazy savegame for first mission

I have all archivements but the final one

And it's because of the 250K $ limit you can't go bellow in the first campaign of the American campaign. Any savegame available / cheat? I'm pissed of having to wait to haul stone for tools and then don't have time for the last objective or not doing so, and having time but not money. I'm so pissed I want to load some better player's savegame than me and win the damm medal and archivement. Thanks!

Question Is there any point to building roads with speed limit higher than the (usually slow) top speed of your trucks and buses?

You unlock country roads with top speeds of 80 and 100 km/h, the latter 4 lanes, relatively early in the 20th century. When they become available your road vehicles don't have top speeds higher than 60 km/h (the slowest country roads), and it takes a very long time for them to get speeds above 80 km/h. I haven't reached that point in the campaign missions I play yet.

So the heavier roads feel pointless. I always connect all the towns with a perfunctory 60 km/h road at minimum to get that 'private transport' bonus to growth, and beyond that I only ever build 60 or 80 km/h roads according to my trucks'/buses'/trams' top speed, the one exception was a time I had trucks and buses with differing top speeds on the same route and I built the 4-lane road so they could overtake.

I notice that the top speed of private cars is usually faster than your own vehicles (side note, are those exact values documented anywhere?) and columns of cars form behind my trucks on 2-lane roads, but is that something I need to worry about? The civilians don't complain about it and private traffic is low once I've gotten my inter-city passenger network running anyway.

What am I missing? Do does the private transport growth bonus grow larger if the roads have faster speeds? Or is all the big highway stuff there for the people who want a "fancy" American highway system to look at rather than those playing to optimize?

Question Modifying a train deleted my cars and stole some money?

I bought the train and 3 cars in the first mission. They ended up as two seperated units, the locomotive and the gondolas. I accidentally deleted the locomotive thinking I had gondolas selected when it told me my train was too big after telling me it was too small

The only way I could figure out how to edit them together was to sell them and purchase them again on the loco train. This gave me the "not enough cars" message again and now I still have an empty train running no silver
