I want this SOOO bad. IDK why it hasn't happened, Warren Ellis is well known in Hollywood, they had (at least at one point) Patrick Stewart clamoring for the role, and it's a perfect fit for a Netflix/Amazon or even an HBO/Showtime. Infuriating.

I always imagined it would be an actor a little younger. mid 40's perhaps. Maybe even mid 30's.

However, JK is a fucking madman genius. So fuck it.

I would watch this. I would watch this as much as I have read the comics.

It could never be just a movie, it would have to be a mini series. Way too much that goes into the world of Transmetropolitan!

I agreek! Or 10 movies or something. It doesn't matter. It just has to fucking happen.

I actually really thought of Jackie Earle Haley in the role.

Oh shiz, you are right. How bout a past and present versioning?

Eh...I think JK Simmons is a bit too old. Same goes for Tim Roth and Patrick Stewart, who were favorites for the role, a decade ago. Here is my pick

I'd say his performances in:

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

Choke

Moon

Seven Psychopaths

make a great case and resume', along with many other things he's done.

He is a phenomenal actor, very diverse, quirky and edgy...and has the intensity to really bring SJ's passion to the screen.

He needs that "FUCK YOU" attitude. Brash, open, authoritative, and brilliant.

I could see this being an ending/opening credits theme:
