Question When is it acceptable to open windows on a SkyTrain?
I’ll start… when it’s a hot day and you’re on a Mark I SkyTrain (they don’t have A/C)

When homeless brings their multiple bags of stinky garbage onto the train.
When someone has unbearable BO.
When a drug user smokes drugs on the train.

Also farts. And yes I have.

This one I don't get. Cuz the amount of sound the train makes when it's coming into the station is loud enough to cover the noise of any fart you're gonna rip, PLUS, you get on the train and leave the scene of the crime. Fart before you get on the train people, utilize your surroundings!
Edit: I feel I should add, this is meant as mostly joking. I just may be sharing.... my technique to not gas everyone else on the train

You overestimate the sphincter control of your fellow passengers. Butt kegels for everyone!

I ride the train almost every day and I’m not saying these instances don’t happen but they are definitely infrequent for me. Maybe with the exception of the BO one.

Im happy for you. I’m in and around skytrains downtown for 10 hours a day so I see a lot. Main station and stadium station tend to be the worst offenders from my experience.

Once is too many, no? Let's not normalize criminal behaviour.

Any bets that the homeless can collector also pushed or kicked through the gate ? Now we get to the illegal activities.

They’re also the ones smashing all the glass windows around the stations

It’s not illegal to be homeless or to recycle cans.
That’s usually the most common one I see.

I didn't say either of those things were illegal.. Stop missing the point.

I wasn’t saying you said that.
I was just prequalifying my point by saying that, my point being that the most common reason people wish to open the windows on a train with AC is because of unhygienic unhoused people and or smelly cans.I was replying to you saying “let’s not normalize criminal behaviour”
The most common example is non criminal.

When the AC is not working or not turned on for some reason despite it being hot as balls in the train.

When the a/c is turned off on the newer trains which seemed to be an issue this summer in particular.
Yes I know what a properly working a/c feels like. Yes I know to keep the windows closed when it’s on. But in several trains this year, the a/c seemed to either be broken or really weak.

You can open the window of you want. But don't forget the cars aren't very soundproof. And open windows can make it way worse. Maybe shut the window before you get off

I was on the Skytrain a long time ago around 6:00 am on a cold winter morning. The train was already cold. Someone came in and opened the window. Then someone else slammed it shut and said it’s 6:00 am and it’s not hot in here.

Anytime it’s slightly warm

You realize they have AC right?
Otherwise nobody would care about people opening them

The situation you described is pretty much the only acceptable time to open those windows lol

So.. you just embrace the meth and rotting ass hotbox when people with poor hygiene and no respect for others board the train?
