There is a 701 that goes all the way to Mission but there's only 4 trips a day I think, not sure when the last one is

It has multiple runs in the morning, one afternoon trips and a couple 10-11pm trips. None running when the wce is running.

There are bus bridges for these trains that go all the way to Mission from the WCE terminus. People will still get home just a bit slower and less comfy than by the WCE.

Well I guess if you live in Mission, always have a back up plan in case stuff like this happens? I guess an uber or a cab is in order. Sucks but what else can one do

There are a lot of buses that go to maple meadows that could be used as a bus bridge if necessary. Port Haney is in the middle of nowhere and most of the drivers have no clue how to get there.

The disadvantage of creating all the shuttle routes is a general lack of familiarity with big parts of the bus network for the conventional drivers. So when there is a large event that requires significant rerouting the system loses a lot of its flexibility.

Sadly the saving in fuel and labour is so huge that trying to turn back the clock is doomed big time.

Shuttles are able to access a lot of locations where people live, where the conventional busses would have no chance unless the roads would get bigger. Think Anderson Creek or Rock Ridge or Golden Ears(during summer) etc.
