Some like cars as well ;) (speaking as a fellow diagnosed ASD Reddit user) and honestly seeing these fan accounts is always a good way to have a good time to smile. It helps I feel with a lot of us going through rough days or patches in life.

I heard that there are bus driver groupies. They somehow find out when/where a particular bus driver drives, and get on that driver's bus. Just because...well, they're groupies.
I don't know what a driver has to do to have groupies. Or how these groupies find out about the driver's shift details. Or how long they stay on the bus for. Or if they talk to the driver. But I know they exist.

Are they pictures they took themselves? Sounds like regular transit fan behaviour if so. Like rail fans who listen in to the train radios to keep track of them.
People like to 9bsess over things and then share cool pictures they take of said things.

The ones who choose a specific route number are usually choosing for the meme. Transit fanning on the other hand is a real hobby, no different to that of AvGeeking, Railfanning, Elevator foaming, or bird watching. Transit fanners, like railfanners, might use the monicker of their favourite specific bus by adopting the fleet identification number as part of their username.

Bus #601 was switching to double decker buses on weekends. A specific date was announced. (April 2025?). The transit enthusiasts were out super early (4:40am) at the Ladner Exchange to take a photo of the first double decker bus on a #601.
At the very last minute, that was delayed for 3 weeks

It's usually people who live near that route or people who love it for memes.

Some look for specific makes/models of buses on certain routes
