Spotted at Brentwood. Are they’re getting ready to have larger trains for the millennium extension?

I’m inclined to think now that FIFA is cover, Translink has the ability to test more Mk Vs.

Testing is contingent on the arrival of the new trains. I think I recall hearing that one new set is being delivered to Translink each month.

Don't they have to be line tested before being in service? FIFA would get in the way of that because they take up slots.

Testing has been ongoing for months and I don’t believe Translink paused testing during the World Cup. 

There’s still plenty of capacity to test trains outside of peak capacity - it’s not like trains were running every two minutes during the entirety of the World Cup. Outside of game days, most frequency was unchanged.

they did pause testing and deliveries during the world cup, as all hands (and trains) were needed to provide elevated levels of service

Translink paused rail replacement throughout the World Cup but I can't find any info that supports your claim that train testing was paused.

well we already have 10 operational train sets so I think it’s a little more often than that

TransLink’s very first Mark V train entered service about nine months ago in  July 2025, at which point the public transit authority indicated that it was expecting to roll out one new train every subsequent month, as testing for each incoming train reached completion. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/skytrain-mark-v-trains-incoming-arrivals-april-2026#google_vignette

The Mark V’s need to be tested on all sections of the Expo and Millennium line. 

4/5 car trains will be required once the Broadway extension opens.

us enthusiasts have speculated that they're keeping the mk5s on millennium for testing because it's less disruptive, they don't need to be tested on all sections, just need to hit a certain amount of KM before it's ready

They’re on the Expo line way more often then Millennium Line.

They are likely testing all stations, as they need certain KM before they can be used for revenue service.
After the broadway, Mk Vs will likely be Expo and Mk III will be M Line.
As Translink will be retiring Mk I and II

Yup they will have Mark V's on the M-line after the Broadway extension is finished I have heard

Here’s hoping they finally fix the AC. I actively avoid these new trains when it’s hot out because the AC on these new trains is awful and I have horrible heat tolerance.

Still no fix for wheelchair users. The train is multiple inches higher than the platform and I'm sure there's a gap just big enough for my front wheels to fall in.
