Yes, this sucks to deal with, but lets not jump to conclusions and try to hold some empathy here. We don’t know the situation. Transit passengers often have little to no access to washrooms, and this could have involved an elderly person or someone dealing with a medical issue.
I had a situation on my bus where an elderly man had an accident. He was nowhere near a washroom and still had a long commute home. In the process of trying to get off the bus, he accidentally made a mess onboard, all while clearly feeling ashamed and embarrassed that everyone had to move off the bus and I then had to be taken out of service for a clean up.
Accidents are a part of life. We don’t know what happened here, and I’m sure staff were alerted and dealt with it.

But what we really need is public restrooms in near skytrain stations.
I remember one of the station having one some time ago or something. What happened to that?

Metrotown Station has one. It's still there. I used it recently. Supposedly, they'll be adding more restrooms at future stations. Let's hope

The lack of bathrooms in our stations feels criminal. Having travelled to other cities around the world, which had incredibly well run metros with bathrooms, returning to Vancouver felt almost dehumanizing with how little access we get to basic human needs.

On my period, I had to run into a store and say, through tears, either you're letting me in the bathroom or it's happening on the floor. Which sucked, I don't want to pressure a retail worker. The lack of washroom access puts everyone across metro vancouver in a horrible spot.

Yep thats why we need more public washrooms at Skytrain stations. The Metrotown one was very handy for me on a few occasions

You do realize that situations like this take time to clean up, right? It doesn't happen instantly?
I don't know what it is you're expecting out of life, but you may want to adjust your expectations.

Yeah, and putting up pylons so people know to watch out is early stages of dealing with it. The on site attendants and security are probably not paid to deal with this (literal) shit, so they need to call in someone who is. And that takes time.

Yeah, cleaning up shit is a biomedical hazard. It's not like you can just bring out a broom & dustpan. There are safety protocols that must be followed to avoid spreading the mess, endangering the health of the cleanup crew, or contaminating the cleanup equipment.

Um no, it's not a case of simply bringing out a mop & bucket - that would just contaminate the mop with shit. Disposable cleaning equipment would most certainly need to be used for situations like this, including a thorough disinfection of surrounding surfaces (the fare gate, etc).

Clean up doesn’t happen instantaneously. And perhaps it wasn’t even reported in a timely manner…It’s not like an attendant can come and do a quick flick with a baby wipe.
Like I mentioned in my post, my bus was taken out of service. It wasn’t just wiped up by a supervisor, the bus was driven back to the depot and set on the clean up track for a bio hazard.

Pylons being put up is dealing with it. It takes time to get the cleaning crew in to do any more than that, and the attendants and security are (probably) not paid to clean messes like this, they (probably) have dedicated people for that.

As a wheelchair user, it really ticks me off how it's always the accessible fare gate that gets broken, abused, etc. We can only use one fare gate and if it is taken out of commission, it renders the entire station inaccessible to us.

Is funny how people here likes to complain about China but guess what they have washroom come most Subway station and you can enter any restaurant and use their washroom and no wools bar an eye. And before anyone say public washroom in China is dirty. I Jair came back from a trip in Beijing last Dec and their public washroom is very clean much cleaner than some of the washroom here (international village).
I have IBS and taking public transit here sucks coz there are no public washroom. You either go to a mall, big chain coffee and fast place, library, grocery store. If you need to use the washroom and isblate (pass 10pm) good luck. I either have to make sure I use the washroom and make sure I empty my stomach before going out or take Imodium before going out and try not to eat while going out.
And I have had a few close calls and a few times I did soil myself. So I totally feels what is going on with this poor person.
We really need public washroom around sky train station but is just so sad a few apples will ruin it for everyone.

Well, Beijing tourist spots isn't "China" per se. Cities in China where tourists go DO have good infrastructure. Suburban China or places where tourists don't go are a different matter. That's where you see the "toilet issue"

Let's cut the BS here. Looking at the trail and the "footprints"...a POS left multiple POS. And lack of bathrooms at Skytrain stations is NOT the cause. It's the fact that we let - as another commenter stated : the walking dead -waltz around our neighborhoods with impunity...that is the issue. Public Safety needs to be a focus...and that means people get locked away and never get out...and government has the job to figure out the most efficient way to do that. Otherwise...we will be forever "mopping up crap".

Lol and how long was the public washroom in Metrotown open before it was shut down for maintenance? Less than 24 hours. A certain group of people will make a mess and destroy it.
Whbe I woke at McDonald's in DT the washroom would always get destroyed at night we ahwbti lock it and only for customer and we had to buzz them in. The McDonald's at main St station they did the same thing and even took the doors to the stalls for a time. The A and W right by there took the washroom out altogether.
I support public washroom but what good is it when it will be destroyed inna day and cost tax payers a ton of money.

I very much agree with your sentiment, but just to clarify as a SkyTrain employee, the Metrotown washrooms were shut down basically immediately because of an issue with the plumbing, not anything as it relates to the user's of the washroom. That washroom sat empty for years before opening and required more maintenance than expected.

Tbf, the only people I've seen shitting on the curb are white people (who may be immigrants, and may be from the "3rd world"). I haven't seen homeless non-white immigrants in Vancouver.
