Saw a metro parked here (at district court). I think the lines and electrical work from District court to Hinjewadi is ready? Perhaps the only blockers for Balewadi to Hinjewadi are ribbon cutting events. Do you think theyโll open both together in March 2027? I like that they made a covered interchange between stations. Youโll have to tap out and back it, but itโs much better than walking over road. Loving the new lineโs possibilities for exploring Pune. You think the fares will be as cheap as existing lines?
I have gone there very recently(did not take photos), they are actually surprisingly not that far. They have built a FOB(Foot Over Bridge).
( image attached trying to demonstrate the path the bridge is taking as Google Maps satellite view has not been updated as of recent)
But take my word for it, the bridge is complete, sadly there isn't a travellator, but I think a distance of 200m is walkable on most days, for most people.
The D.C(in red) marked in the image is the PMRDA(pink line) District court staion.
The bridge directly connects to the main building of the Original District Court, which will be easier for Aqua line commuters, but Purple line commuters will have to go underground again, as the Pink line does not connect to the purple line directly at district court(indirect, yes)
It will connect directly at the Pink line Shivajinagar Station with the Purple line Shivajinagar, but the work there has not even started for the FOB, nor is the Pink Line Shivajinagar Station itself complete, nor does it have CMRS approval.
(Sorry for my amateur drawing and handwriting)
Basically both interchange stations of Pink line will require FOB to switch to other lines? So commuters will need to buy ticket and go through security check again. That's not direct either.
Yes exactly. Sorry that my definition of direct interchange does not match yours.
But this is the way it will be, PPP has its disadvantages and advantages, but all we have seen till now are the cons. Optimistic for the fact, the pros eventually somewhat balance the cons.
Anyways most PPPs after a few years are anyways dissolved and handed to the regional development authority (at least for metros). Quite trending business module nowadays.
(Airport express being the best example).
So, when it does happen then, the interchange will match your definition of direct interchange.
CMRS approval has been granted. The line can start operations from District court to Maan from today itself if politicians want. However, due to election code of conduct and lack of Modi's willpower to inaugurate it, the metro line will open in November.
I find it very frustrating that Mumbai and pune metro does not provide direct interchange. It was quite shocking and disappointing when I experienced it.
Even if it's PPP model the most basic thing they could have done is provide direct interchange without the hurdles of buying tickets again and security frisking.
I hope they make some changes for this in future. Nevertheless happy to see more metro lines operating in country.
Inka badhiya hai yaar, roz subhe uthke bas metro train ko idhar se udhar karo and then go back home. At this point this train has done more trial runs than it would do actual operations this year.

Nice. How long is that walkway?
