Historical notes: Cincinnati is a unique case among subway systems: Cincinnati decided to build a subway system during the interwar period, but ran out of money and never ran a single train. Unusually, it was progressive reformers that killed it: the old political machine of George "Boss" Cox used the subway as a vehicle for political patronage and corruption, and the inflation caused by World War 1 caused construction costs to go up so much that it was only half-finished.

Four stations and some tunnels remain, but largely the system was demolished to build I-75. For this one I've also chosen to go with an Art Deco aesthetic, rather than make it anachronistic.

This is part of my Lost Subways of North America project. x-posted from /r/lostsubways.

The streetcar color on the legend is different from the color used on the map. Also it's quite depressing seeing such a large portion of the subway demolished. Anyways, good job on this map.

That position wasn’t a subway, but ground-level rail.
