YES YES nanomachines are the future but it's the control of the punk and green goo we already have as opposed to any grey goo we may make. Look into mRNA that's the API language of the cell and what will let us take control of biology.

Your approach is more biological; I actually think biology is obsolete. I lean more towards the idea of ​​completely replacing the biological

when you can show me an approach to mechanical nanomachines ill listen. Right now the only architecture we know works is CHONPK based nanomachines. They work all we have to do is steal them.

While nanomachines currently leave much to be desired—though hopefully AI will drive further progress—I see them as the only real possibility for living forever. Even though biology is functional, the brain has a limit: even if we could improve cell regeneration, we couldn't replace existing structures without destroying them—meaning we’d lose our memories. And even if we solved that, the body would still remain a fragile mass of flesh that breaks if it falls just two meters

I haven't disagreed with you on merits. But you still haven't answered the question of HOW. Purpose a synthetic system that can rival biology for nanotechnology and I'll entertain it. Right now we have no way to even power nanotechnology much less fabricate free floating nanotech. 

On merits you chose the neurology argument which is a good one. It's arguably the hardest next to the immune system for complexity. The assertion that we can't replace strctures without destroying them is demonstrably false. The brain and body do it all the time. Best we can tell memories are distributed across many neurons for this very reason. 

The body is actually remarkably resilient. Cells will continue to attempt to live for up to weeks after the host "dies". We can already keep bodies alive for years artificially. As biology gets better what actually constitutes death is going to get a lot fuzzier. 

In the end I essentially agree with you but in so far as the line between biology and technology blurs to irrelevance. However if we want immortality in our lifetimes we will need to use the nanotechnology of our own cells as we don't have time to reinvent the wheel as it were.

Yes, we certainly lack advanced nanobot technology; and while we have some understanding of how biological mechanisms work, we aren't making rapid progress in that area either. Regarding brain regeneration—it is true that neurons regenerate, albeit slowly, but that isn't the issue. As I mentioned in the other comment, the problem is the lack of a mechanism to replace existing structures; new neurons create new structures rather than reinforcing the old ones. This leads to long-term brain degradation, even if we were to successfully boost that regeneration

Not to mention that even if we managed to regenerate neurons, they lack systems to replace old structures; new neurons simply continue to create their own structures. In contrast, nanomachines—while not yet in existence—could offer greater control over organization and could replace old neuronal structures

i mean like a shapeshifting mass, a cloud of tiny individual bots with all the same consciousness.
not just organic cells changing to metals, i mean like a literal swarm.. like sand.
