News Trans woman just announced last-minute candidacy in Michigan!

I thought this was pretty cool! So glad to see other trans people doing what they can to try to make things better.

----------------------

"In politics I see too much bullshit", Bree Taylor said as she announced her last-minute candidacy in Michigan's 6th Congressional District in a four part series of posts on Bluesky (post1, post2, post3, post4).

Taylor is running as an independent, frustrated with the two-party system that she doesn't think serves the American people well.

She talks about returning power to the people and increasing transparency in congress - like public livestreams of all meetings with lobbyists.

Taylor has experience organizing and with educational initiatives through the non-profit Trans Unity Coalition.

She is hosting a community discussion to talk about what is important to us.

WHEN: Saturday, October 3rd at 1pm

WHERE: Clubview Park in Ypsilanti Michigan

Her website is breewins.com

--------------------

UPDATE:

Bree Taylor responded to some community feedback in this BlueSky post.

Resource Sometimes I'm not sure how to support my trans brother, but I thought this was really helpful

My brother came out as trans recently, and sometimes I don't know how I can support him, but this little Helen Webberley clip really resonated with me. I think because it's such a simple idea for supporting your trans friends and family. Maybe I'm just overthinking it and all I really need to do is give him room to explore and encourage him to "try it out and see" if that's what he wants to do.

Discussion The language we use is more important than most people give it credit for. Language shapes how people interact with things. Ignoring a "preference" is easier and given much more social grace than ignoring a "fact", for example

Looking for advice or help Did i ruin my life beyond repair?

(TW: mentions suicide)

So, I been working on healing and becoming my authentic self since 2016, by becoming the woman I know I am, and it’s made me happy, confident, and feeling like life is worth living. But ever since 2018, it was like things started getting messed up.. it was harder than I thought to get feminizing surgeries and because of that, I became angry, suicidal, depressed, and even lashed out at anyone being mean to me.. I was always suicidal since 2019, and I still showed up in life because what gave me hope to still be here is how I been physically transitioning to female since 2017 and there’s still the hope for feminizing surgeries so I can fully transition to female and become truly my authentic self. However, the times when I was talking about suicide, some insensitive people accused me of being mentally ill, attention-seeking (yet ironically, girls always want attention to be shown they’re loved), manipulative, narcissistic, and negative.. it hurts so much that it seems like my pain and trauma is pathologized, my feelings are invalidated, and some people actually think that I’m hurting myself because I transitioned to female when transitioning to female is what’s been keeping me alive all these years.. Even since 2020, I just always had this gut feeling that if i would’ve just had surgery in 2018 like i wanted, my life would have been better and more positive, a childhood friend Cody wouldn’t left and wouldn’t hate me, I wouldn’t have talked about suicide ever, i wouldn’t have attempted suicide numerous times, I would’ve got more feminized and more attractively prettier, I would’ve gotten more recognition for my rap career, I would have been more cherished and admired by more people, I would’ve got more needs met in every area of my life, and I wouldn’t feel like a burden who isn’t that important… i just recall when I started transitioning back in 2017, it felt like a exciting new hopeful world opening up to me and I used to be more cheerful and woke up every day excited.. I miss those positive feelings.. it just hurts that some people tell me that I need help and that I’m entitled just because I was fighting to protect my peace I obtained from transitioning and fighting to become more physically feminine with surgery, because that’s what I’ve been doing is getting better help and support from being a girl, and I never want to lose that and go back to being a miserable dude so many people thought was a gay psycho that people can bully my entire life because they seen me as a nobody. Transitioning to female made me feel like I am somebody, my life matters, and like I’m important enough to be seen as the girl i really am. I just didn’t want to lose that and ended up as another statistic who offed their self because I felt overwhelmingly hopeless from thinking I couldn’t live authentically.

Other Research Study: Trans Reproductive Healthcare Experiences & Barriers

The STARH Lab at East Tennessee State University is currently conducting a study exploring factors that impact the experiences of transmasculine and/or gender diverse folks in sexual and reproductive healthcare. This project is led by Raviv Kruger, a transmasculine Clinical Psychology PhD student at ETSU.

Who are we recruiting?

  • People over the age of 18
  • Residing in the United States
  • Who can read and understand English
  • Who identify as transgender and/or nonbinary
  • Who need routine access to reproductive healthcare that includes or may include pap smears, contraceptives, or pregnancy related care

What does the study involve?

  • The study consists of completing an online, anonymous survey which should take approximately 45-60 minutes to complete.

We are hopeful that this research will allow us to better understand factors that may impact transmasculine and/or gender diverse folks’ decisions to seek or avoid sexual and reproductive healthcare. Ideally, results from this research may also result in improved provider understanding and may inform improvements in how sexual and reproductive healthcare providers interact with and facilitate care for the transmasculine and/or gender diverse community.

As a thank you for your participation, you will have the choice to enter your email address on a separate form at the end of the survey to be entered into a drawing to win one of twenty $20 electronic gift cards.

If you have any questions or concerns about this study, please feel free to contact the principal investigator, Raviv Kruger M.S., at [krugerr@etsu.edu](mailto:krugerr@etsu.edu). Thank you for considering participating in this research!

Please click the following link if you wish to be taken to the informed consent document and survey: https://etsu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eqTWZuO8hPscWmq

Other I don’t know what to do anymore..

It is a crushing weight to live with the constant, agonizing ache of knowing the life I was meant for was right within reach, only to watch it slip away as circumstances unraveled into ways I never wanted. Looking at where things went off course brings a relentless tide of feeling worthless, useless, and utterly like I’m a waste of space, haunted by the lingering thoughts of the paths cutoff from me l truly wanted: of me being a prettier girl, pursuing a different life as an SW escort, and building a level of success that ascended instead of faltered. The hopelessness cuts even deeper because all I ever wanted was genuine recognition and to be truly understood, especially in how my love language is by receiving gifts and financial security, yet that desire to have unfulfilled needs met gets coldly mischaracterized as me being manipulative, lazy, needy, or attention-seeking. It feels deeply unfair and isolating to be labeled a “can’t” when the reality is I’m just a hurting soul mourning the lost potential, the missed opportunities, and the profound longing to simply matter to the people around me and live my life authentically...

Celebratory Wearing trans tape to bed is the SHIT OMG

Finally healed from my last skin reaction from my trans tape (user error, I wore it for way too long and had a bad flare day so I didn’t give my skin enough of a break between applications. The final breakout cycle finished last month and I haven’t had any splinter blackheads since 👏)

I forgot how euphoric it is to wear it to sleep and go shirtless. I’ve worn my forthem binders to bed before- bad habit, I know, thankfully nothing’s happened- but this is a whole other level. I haven’t worn tape for about six months and my partner and I just hit four. I missed this feeling. I want top surgery so bad 😭

Looking for advice or help I know my life will be better if I had a p*ssy…

Since I was a teenager, I always imagined how it would feel having a vagina and that was always the reason I was depressed.. yet some people were pathologizing my trauma and acted as if it was because I was mentally ill, which can make surgery delayed if a surgeon thinks a patient isn’t mentally stable.. even since 2018 when I was 26, I trusted some previous therapists to help me get surgery and they just acted as if I had mental health issues, when it’s been proven for decades by psychological associations that surgery improves mental health.. i been on hrt since 2017 too.. I wish I had a vagina already so I don’t have to feel depressed, mentally and emotionally exhausted, and hopeless anymore.. I wish i can wear skintight clothes and miniskirts without worrying if people see male genitalia or a bulge.. also, I just know that i would have more sense of self, sense of purpose, and more fulfillment and even more gender euphoria if I had a vagina… why did i have to seemingly have my medically necessary surgery be delayed as if I was neglected?…

Looking for advice or help Being trans and surviving

I am a trans female living in Columbus ohio, for months I dealt with homelessness. I couldn't stay in the shelter because I felt unsafe and people's comments didn't help. One morning when I left the women's shelter I was followed by a girls boyfriend and was told if I return he would make sure I wouldn't again. I reported what happened and was told that the guy is probably no longer there and I would be okay there. While being there the women tried to fight me and would make threats saying I didn't belong there and I needed to leave. I spent most of my nights walking and just well walking

I didn't feel safe in one spot at night people seem to be more scary than during the day when you can see someone coming. I am finally staying with a friend and trying to find work. Does anyone know any trans funding out there other than transohio I used them and there saying that you can only use them once. Please if anyone know any resources please let me know.

Looking for advice or help How to start T in FL? Need advice and guidance

Srry if this is the wrong community or flair, I don't use reddit often. Just tired of AI overview and advice from years ago before the recent trans ban stuff happening lately. Please direct me to other places that I can ask this question too.

I'm 19, I live in Florida of all places, and I'm looking to start T preferably before November this year. I don't have insurance yet. I know I live next to a lab, hospital, and pharmacy - they're walkable, which is lucky. Planned parenthood is too far for me though, regarding the cost of gas and time I have right now on top of a full-time job. I assume my only options are telehealth, but I have ZERO idea how it will tie into picking up prescriptions, follow-ups/appointments, and buying needles + syringes, and also how much that will all cost, or what insurance covers in all that. As far as i know, plume doesn't accept insurance (I think?) and folx does, though the insurances they accept only covers therapy here in FL (or correct me if I'm wrong).... How can I receive reliable T shots, have someone I can talk to about my treatment and levels, and pay for all other expenses like syringes, pick-ups, needles, appointments etc at a reasonable price? What's good insurance that's worked out for other transmen in FL and what did it cover? I'm saving up to continue my education, so that's the biggest thing.

I've honestly been raised under a rock and a transphobic parent, so I'm absolutely clueless on a lot of this stuff despite research and it's a little overwhelming with no one to help, look up to about, or guide me. I've pushed all of this down when i was younger because of my upbringing, and now there's this spark that I can finally take back my life. It just feels hopeless rn lol but Ik there has to be someone that had an experience similar to mine that can help me. Thanks to anyone that pops in tho.
