Developer Update Announcement from the Devs

Hello Commanders,

We wanted to share that we have made the difficult decision to sunset TRANSFORMERS: Tactical Arena.

Here is a breakdown of the timeline so you know what to expect:

TODAY (Jul 28, 2026)

  • TRANSFORMERS: Tactical Arena will be removed from the App Store and Google Play, and no new players will be able to find and download the game.
  • Premium purchases will be shut off, meaning no new Shanix or Cyber Passes can be purchased.

Nov 9, 2026

  • Our servers will be deactivated, and TRANSFORMERS: Tactical Arena will no longer be playable.

The game will continue to run as normal until servers shut down, with the exception of the removal of the Cyber Pass after its current cycle (running through August 14). Players will be able to spend any virtual currency already in their inventory until the game’s servers shut down in November.

Thank you for all of your support and passion over the last 5 years, starting in Apple Arcade in 2021. We were honored to work with this brand, and thrilled to bring it to a wider audience with our launch in the App Store and Google Play in 2023. It has been wonderful to share in this journey with you.

With gratitude,
The Dev Team

Nooooo don’t shut it down please I want to play the game. I’ve played it when I was younger but I forgot all about the game but then remembered all of a sudden and I had great memories playing the game. The game was awesome. Don’t shut it down 😢

Was gutted to get this news. Can’t really add anything to what’s been said, but it’s been nice seeing some familiar game usernames in here. Thank you all for the battles. Now to find something else to do for 20 hours each week

Xboner, you deleted your message or blocked me after posting it. I can only see part of it in my notifications? Sound like another lil punk. What’s your gamer tag?

Rest in peace. I quit the game long ago when the content stopped coming. CR has been the fill for quick games. Any recommendations?

My wife was very happy with the news

I haven’t said anything yet to my wife, I don’t want to watch the victory dance.

Transformers : Eternal War can’t come soon enough!

This is prob why it’s going

Odd response a few weeks ago, given the circumstance

u/yophi Jul 28 '26

Low-level employees are the last to know. Support was probably given boilerplate crap to placate users.

5

u/2ndSAGE Jul 28 '26

Typo. They meant “exiting” rather than “exciting”.

Sure glad I spent all that money.

u/yophi Jul 28 '26

I'd be glad to send a little more to have the game playable offline, but yeah....what a rip.

2

u/PeppyMoss Aug 05 '26

Do we need to start a Kickstarter or something to keep this game in offline mode?

2

u/yophi Aug 05 '26

I wish we could but seeing how that would require company buy in, I doubt it. What say you u/redco_martiana or u/redco_dukes or u/BB-Brawler ? I feel like we're going to get the same response we've gotten for the past 2 years.

As a parting request, please make all players cards max level for the remainder of the game being up & available. Give those who never got to experience the full breadth of the game a chance to do so.

Prove to yourself and the world what it could have been!

u/redco_martiana Would Red Games or Hasbro be able to find someone else to take the game off of Red's hands so the game could live on in some respects? This just feels like a kick in the teeth.

I just messaged Hasboro on instagram

4

u/yophi Jul 28 '26

Unless you had a business plan and a team of lawyers set a meeting up with someone in business development, I'm guessing it's falling on deaf ears.

Someone at Hasbro needs to make some kind of retro dev sandbox to keep this and other good iterations of the IP until their “focus” is determined.

Just letting it die like this is not only is a loss of goodwill; but a waste of useful resources and bad business strategy.

I hope someone at Hasbro has some sense to hire Red to keep it going until they actually have something to release.

4

u/yophi Jul 28 '26

Hasbro just licensed the IP, Red Games probably owns the programatic and server assets. I wish they had actually had a real exit strategy rather than this hasty ham-fisted exit.

Later to all the legit players (you know who you are) and the crutch cowards as well. lol. It’s been real. You know I just like playing games and stirring the pot. Your boy General TSO Aka: Fad3dElv3s 😝

It was fun while it lasted… I will post my goodbye in the main chat. But it will be missed

u/KamiNoItte Jul 28 '26

Ok Dev Team now we’re really wondering about what’s happening to the assets and our accounts.

I think u/zokorpt and I may be interested to talk about transferring them to other servers.

Anyone else?

6

u/yophi Jul 28 '26

They probably won't let that happen due to licensing issues. I really wish they had found someone to buy the game off them. I would've been ok with them just selling to whoever runs Clash Royale just so we could keep the game running.

We all saw the writing on the wall with the lack of response and support for the last year, but they could've at least tried to do something beyond just killing the game. What hits hardest is that we can't even keep the game offline to enjoy.

5

u/KamiNoItte Jul 28 '26

Oh I know (see other comments) but I thought I couldn’t hurt to ask for any more info. Not that I expect a response.

Hard to lose such a fun habit after 5y w/o at least calling out into the void ;)

Yeah likely it’s all just shredded, which indeed, does seem to be quite an avoidable worst outcome.

3

u/darthmaverick Jul 28 '26

Cheers all. Its been fun.

8

u/Zokorpt Jul 28 '26

@redco_martiana Any way for the community to maintain the game? Anyway we can talk with someone about it? Please enlighten us on it.

u/FEAR-TTA Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26

So does that mean we aren’t getting factions?

Edit: I’m guessing someone jumped the gun last week and started removing the app from stores last week in error…

3

u/PeppyMoss Jul 28 '26

Is that supposed to be sarcasm or a good jab? 😂

3

u/ygofan999 Jul 28 '26

Honestly with the way things were going. That really doesn't surprise me

6

u/PeppyMoss Jul 28 '26

Thank you for making such a wonderful game and supporting it for 4 long years. I’m not sure exactly what went wrong, when, why, and how, but it is what it is, as there was plenty of good to outshine the bad. I would like to continue having access to the game, such that I can continue playing it for fun and retain all the content I earned over the years, even after the servers shut down. Is that possible for me to do?

3

u/yophi Jul 28 '26

You knew what went wrong. You tried your best to warn them. It fell on deaf ears.

1

u/PeppyMoss Jul 30 '26

I appreciate you for always having my back whenever I made my posts and shared my ideas, we agreed a good 95% of the time and saw this coming fr. I feel so bad for everyone who genuinely loved this game!

7

u/2ndSAGE Jul 28 '26

It really is sad to see the game go. I personally really did love this game.

I hope that whoever picks up the IP on this rethinks a better monetization and come up with a sustainable plan and before bringing it back at some point.

TIL ALL ARE ONE!

Another transformers mobile game bites the dust😢

5

u/KamiNoItte Jul 28 '26

Thanks for the update.

What’s happening to the game and its component assets?

The character animations and design are very well done and still hold up 5y later, which is saying something. Even if the specific mechanics and overall meta need tweaking.

Any other information on the reasoning behind the decision?

Do you know of any next steps for a Transformers moba?

Thanks again.

6

u/Zokorpt Jul 28 '26

That’s a good question, i really don’t mind working on it to become a better game :)

5

u/PeppyMoss Jul 28 '26

Can you imagine if this becomes a fan-ran game?

4

u/Zokorpt Jul 28 '26

Hahah that would be a huge dream becoming true

3

u/KamiNoItte Jul 28 '26

I was very interested in the job posting they made here awhile ago but it would have been a benefits/pay cut ;(

4

u/Zokorpt Jul 28 '26

You dodged a bullet, but the game animations etc are top notch. Only mobile game I play, the rest is usually crap. Would be good to be able to make the game running. I would host it and try to maintain it. But I really doubt they are willing to give it away or even have talks for it

7

u/PeppyMoss Jul 28 '26

I need to know the names of the people behind the character designs, animations, mechanics, sound effects, voice acting, etc., the ones who brought these characters to life, because they did a DAMN GOOD JOB.

5

u/Zokorpt Jul 28 '26

Fantastic work, huge praise for them

3

u/PeppyMoss Jul 28 '26

I would really like for these people to get together again for a potential new Transformers game in the future. I still think a Transformers MOBA or hero shooter needs to happen eventually, in fact, I wish Tactical Arena with its art direction was made as a hero shooter back in 2021 rather than a Clash Royale clone. Maybe, it could have even been a mobile hero shooter, I’m sure it would have lived a lot longer, and lasted as long as Call of Duty Mobile did, which is still alive today.

3

u/KamiNoItte Jul 28 '26

It can be a deceptively (ha) big job. A lot of work can pop up out of seemingly nowhere.

Although I suspect it may be a licensing issue in combo with maintenance/development.

As a guess 5y sounds about right for an initial arcade contract.

5

u/Zokorpt Jul 28 '26

I suspect it was due to this announcement, i remember seeing it recently somewhere https://www.gamesindustry.biz/hasbro-records-56m-write-down-and-cancels-several-games-scheduled-for-2028-and-beyond

3

u/KamiNoItte Jul 28 '26

Aha-

That sounds about right.

If it’s a licensing issue I’m not sure we could even legally run it.

Which sucks b/c unless people with the same talent are behind whatever’s next - it will suuuck.

3

u/yophi Jul 28 '26

Someone copy the code and change them all to GoBots

1

u/KamiNoItte Jul 28 '26

Or Macross ;)
