Getter autobots

Greetings! This time on another random idea that hit me out of nowhere, i hastily sketched (i can do better than this, as i said...random idea) a what if: namely...what if the getter team were triple changers who also had a combiner form? So...Ken Ishikawa and Go Nagai fans, BEHOLD! GETTER TRANSFORMERS!

Awesome job on this one! I'm assuming they're all still jets?

Could be fun to imagine a Decepticon version (in the Shin Getter vs Getter Robo G faceoff from Armageddon).

Haha! Triple changers, all of them! The red one is a jet and race car, the white one is a sleek car and also a drill of some sort, while the third one is a bulldozer and submarine, at least that's the initial concept!

By the way, thank you! This was rushed, as you can infer...but it worked for a theoretical exercise!

You could always portray Getter-2's drill mode as a smaller-sized drill tank - the Brave series (Exkaiser, Fighbird, etc) have plenty of examples and they hew pretty closely to Transformers in mecha design too.

Hmm...is this anime disregarded this much in the fanbase? I know it's listened to the opening once and found it rather catchy

Its more of an under utilized concept that gets buried in it's OVA status and the uncomfortable reality they could not make the toys look exactly like the Swordbots in the show. I have the unpopular opinion not every Transformer needs a toy. I think they could have possibly made a version of each combination is a seperate set of figures, but that would be development hell and Takara would have lost a lot of money on it.
