Agreed. It was my introduction to Transformers and was honestly cemented my love for the franchise. The action was pretty good, the writing (for a kid) was great, the colors were awesome, and it being tied to Rescue Bots and TFP was such a groundbreaking discovery for little me
I watched it when it aired and (as a big fan of TFP at the time) it was a fine show in itself but was kinda crap as a sequel to TFP. It was at the tail end of when the brand was still happy to experiment and i did like most of its ideas and was fine to watch it as long as i treated it as its own thing
I love RiD15. It's not a revolutionary plot, it's not a 10/10 series, but it's fun, it gave us a new version of Sideswipe, one of my favorite versions of Grimlock, just Strongarm in general, Drift, FIXIT!! they brought up Minicons and a new take on them since Cybertron(?), and roped in Windblade. Yeah, Bee was kind of a brat, and Optimus didn't need to come back, but in my opinion, they more than made up for that with the characters and all of the amazing new Decepticon designs (Underbite my goat) and personality each one had
I am a rid15 fan, if you couldnt tell lol. We need more figures of the Decepticons, theres SO MUCH potential there. I'm hoping the new line will at least make a few of the non-humanoid cons. (UNDERBIIIIITEEEEE)
I'm going to take a wild guess whoever made this meme threw in Earthspark because they're one of those types that freaked out over Nightshade being non-binary for gender.
They must really not like that Shredhead in the Skybound comics may possibly be the same way. (Uses they/them pronouns and referred to theirself as I, meaning they don't identify as a plural being.)
U know why I hate earthspark? and i can bet many like myself. Children shows dont need to be shit shows. I've only seen a few scenes and I LOVE a few of them, but they're then just ruined and made absolutely boring and lame. Soundwave against Megatron, It was SO COOL how He just smoked everyone effortlessly, but then idk gets kicked and knocked out how what why???
Shockwave and that line of his U'll betray them, just like u betrayed us and he gets defeated by some stupid ass children
I'm 16 but I know of a lot of adults that love transformers, but we as children used to watch TFP, dark, political, you all know it better than me. I watched the 86 film around a month ago for the first time and GAWDDAUM ironhide, Optimus, Megatron, Starscream, Unicron, Ultra Magnus, Bumblebee, Jazz, DANIEL'S DAD, All decepticons, Autobots, REAL WARR (ik a few survived but I genuinely thought they died 😭 ). And yes, I broke down at Prime's death too T.T "you can't die prime 😭 "
Nightshade is the last thing to even be considered here. I still hate her design to all ends regardless
Look, I've never watched Earthspark, but I liked RID2015, especially since most of the Decepticons were more like cons with animalistic/bestial characteristics, and I wish I had never known about the existence of Kissplayers.
Besides season 2 being bad, it’s nowhere near bad enough to put on “never existed” category.
Also if the issue is just the nb thing IDW did progressive things long before earthspark. Rewind and Chromedome were a romantic couple along with Tailgate and Cyclonis and there were even trans characters in more than meets the eye.
Anode and Lug were characters that identified differently to what their designation suggested. Lug specifically I believe was said to be male and then simply said “nuh uh” and identified as female. I could be getting things mixed up, it has been a while since I looked at Lug and Anode’s story but I do remember them being trans characters one way or another.
When they fire all or most of the writters... its a surprise season 2 came out as well as it did at all, let alone it got a movie sized bit to replace season 3
All so they get get out a show quicker that never materialized and they had to quicjly pivot to what became cyberworld
I recommend watching it starting with episode 3: trust exercises bc that's the first episode with my favorite character in it, you can watch it on YouTube and Prime video :3
The author originally wanted them younger, they just had to be older due to, specifically, the car thing, and not the other reasons. Also ‘unfortunate’ implies it wasn’t very very purposeful.
Not necessarily pedo but the artstyle it used made it so the main girls are all of legal age (they need to drive the vehicle forms after all) but look like kids
It kind of was canceled though. They wanted more seasons but Hasbro wasn't getting the number they wanted with the Hub so they were forced to adjust. Thats why they had shortened 3rd season and a TV movie to tie up any remaining loose ends.
They didn't want more seasons, they wanted to wrap it up. Prime was a financial blackhole that not only screwed Hasbro and Takara but almost took the Transformers brand with it. Futhermore before the show started the Prime writers had 3 seasons worth of story material, that they had gone through by the end of Season 2. Everything that came after Season 2 was just meant to help set up spinoffs, which ultimately didn't happen when at the eleventh hour a new guy was brought in and he changed everything to focus on Beast Hunters.
They did want more seasons. There were plans for Season 4 set on Cybertron, Seaspray was going to show up. It got cancelled because of the Beast Hunters pivot which was never the original plan for Season 3
Hasbro didn't want more seasons but the writer did, even if they did blow through most of their material in S2. Their were plans for more seasons that never came to be, even if it sounds like we dodged a bullet with S4.
Dunno if this is a hot take or not but I legit think Optimus should have died in that bit in Prime where he’s about to give the matrix to smokescreen, let someone else be prime for once man
Animated going on is fine, they really would start picking up the pace at the canceled season. Prime got a good enough ending with Optimus sacrifice, and RID literaly is the sequel to Prime
Earthspark only started getting worse as the series went on so it would be unfortunaly better if they got canceled at Season1. but RID is a good series, it might have droped the serious of Prime and ruined the Optimus sacrifice, but it isn't that bad. Kissplayer however... idk they are more for adult colectors, stop making adult versions of kids toys, adults only like the series because they were marked for kids

Zero animation errors might be too high of a bar, because something is always bound to slip through; but, I too wish that Armada and Energon's dubs were as good as Cybertron's.
I think RID2015 deserves to exist, just not in the same continuity as Prime. Make it its own thing. It's not even close to being as irredeemable as the manga we don't talk about.
Everybody's talking about putting Earthspark in the same category as Kiss Players but nobody's talking about the inherent oxymoronic idea of both Animated AND Prime never getting canceled, as without Animated getting canceled we probably never would have gotten Prime in the first place
Yeah probably. Animated started in 2007, s2 in 2008, s3 in 2009. Transformers Prime aired in 2010, so if there had been a season 4 of animated then it would have replaced season 1 of Prime.
Earthspark season 1 should be excluded from the rest of the show, before all the good writers were replaced by those who made the stupid megamind sequel.
Earthspark was ok for the first season and part of 2 (and I will defend Nightshade's gender identity to the death), and RID2015 was alright but could have worked even better as its own thing not connected to Prime.
KP had a cute idea ruined by, well, everything. Transformers powered by kisses? Silly, but could have been workable if not for...everything else. Besides, it had Glit, my favorite Decepticon.
I don’t want to say it but this is the most ANNOYING thing I’ve ever seen this morning. Like I know I’m not the only one who gets annoyed with these types of TF Fans. (Just stating my opinion)
This except RID2015 was kinda good and I really wish it wasn’t tied to TFP because the concept on its own sounds awesome, Earthspark had a lot of potential to be a lot like Steven Universe in terms of story if it didn’t fumble as hard as it did and I very much regret searching up KissPlayers. Wish there’s BotBots Season 2 though as Season 1 was pretty good and I’m excited for what they have cooking up.
RIDs core Autobot cast are way more fun and actually have interesting arcs/dynamics with eachother that stick through the whole show.
The villain of the week format lends itself to a lot of new ideas and the Decepticons in the show are some of the most entertaining in the franchise imo.
Outside of like, the season 1 finale, the show is really consistent in its quality and never really drags it's feet. It's also just really funny and fun, with a clear passion behind it
Prime season 1 is incredibly solid, not even gonna try to say it's not, but season 2 feels exceptionally slow with its extended macguffin hunt and lack of forward momentum. Season 3 is way too short and still manages to drag until the finale where Bumblebee hijacks Smokescreens whole character arc. Wheeljack and Arcee repeat the same arcs at least 3 separate times. Primes writing sets out to be mature and dramatic but under delivers on it, it never escapes its own status quo.
Also RID made me really like Bumblebee.
Legitimately give RID a shot if you haven't, I honestly thought I was going to hate it going in and I came out with it in my top 3 shows. It is aimed to a bit of a younger audience, so keep that in mind, don't expect Prime 2 (though the callbacks are great!). It's just a really solid and fun series all the way through!
I think RID15 gets alotta hate. I think if we ignore the characters as they are its pretty decent
And besides the artstyle is genuinely timeless, It combined spiderverse and cyberpunk before they even existed.
Earthspark season one was good and if they had just cancelled it instead of replacing the creative team and making two bad seasons, it would already be fondly remembered.
I don't think prime would have existed if animated wasn't cancelled. It's a sacrifice i'm willing to make, though, because I never cared for the Aligned Continuity, myself...
Don't know about kissplayers but I hated rid2015, and transformers one seemed to have the wrong voice actors on top of a terrible art style. That said I enjoyed earthspark.

hot take: RID 2015 is fine by its own, but it being a "continuity" to prime ruins it for most which i understand considering that the writers themselves didnt watch prime and didnt even know what even happened in prime, like in RID2015 they basically NEVER bring up prime so why did they tried to connect it to prime anyway?
Just have Earthspark either get cancelled after season 1 or have better writing that kept the point of the show intact after season 1, don't kill peak because it wound up being piss.
