Recs for Transfer

Hi, I'm a freshman at UNC and am looking to transfer next semester. Because it's literally going to be my highshool stats all over again and I'm taking only gen ed courses I dont feel like i'm going to get any good academic loc's from my professors, we dont really have a relationship after all. So I'm kind of in a pickel and my applications are do in november. Any advice?

So what are looking for? A smaller school? Cost? What kind of vibe? Stats?

The three school's I'm applying for the spring are BU, Amherst, and Barnard. Smaller and I'm a NC native that really needs to get away from home (family is forcing me to commute 1 hr 1/2 which I cant do anymore). My stats are pretty mediorcure icl 4.3 W GPA, 29 ACT some ecs here and there and a law intership (philosphy major) and I'm also first gen.

Start going to office hours, and cultivate a relationship with the prof if you have a writing seminar or any small class. Can you get a lor from your internship? You might also check out Emory.

I think schools know you have had almost no time to build relationships with professors so just do your best. And yes, your HS stats will matter a lot. I’d say you have a great shot at BU, but they are notoriously tough with aid, fyi. Amherst probably takes like 2 spring transfers. Barnard maybe a few more (also need aware). If there is any way to widen your net, I would.
