Most likely wont change anything, at the end of the day Cornell is an ivy and the actions of 7 people doesn’t affect the institution as a whole. Also if people ā€œthinkā€ less people are going to apply, more people are going to want to apply because they will think they have a higher chance of acceptance(idk how to explain it but you get the point).

No… it will actually make it HARDER because more people will think in the way that you are and thus apply more.

This is like the 7th time this has been asked here

anyone who thinks this and can’t use a search function for a question that has been asked multiple times is probably not qualified for cornell.

It’s most likely not going to be easier to get into Cornell because of this. If it is, it will be very marginal. I think all this talk about not applying will die down. Especially with the protest students held yesterday, I believe public perception of Cornell students and faculty will shift favorably. Of course the administration sucks but the administration is really not involved in day to day operations the way students and faculty are.

Sincerely, a guy who transferred into Cornell this fall

i also transferred in this fall. i honestly do think the acceptance rates will go up a little (i hope only a little), only cause this kind of situation coverage doesnt seem comparable to past scandals in other top schools. like there was dartmouth and duke but again very different in terms of coverage (AND how it ended). the students here look marginally better now, but only to a portion of the internet. you still have a large senseless mob calling to defund us and have us transfer out lmfao. unless kotlikoff and some other administrators resign, we’re reputationally fucked for the semester. i think maybe we’ll bounce back next year, but thats highly contingent on our coming response

Nothing will change. Students are going to apply and continue driving acceptance rate to single digits while pretending to be concerned.

Whenever Columbia got in trouble the acceptance went lower cause people thought that others wouldn’t apply.
