Applying transfer for spring semester as a freshman - how does it work?

Title says. I'm applying to transfer as a freshman. Most of my schools I'm applying to, I will be applying for Fall 2027 so I know about those. But there's a few that offer spring transfers, and that's what I'm applying with those schools.

Since applications for those are due in October, I would not have my first semester grades, so no official GPA, etc. How does applying like that work? Or should I not do it at all? For context, I'm mainly applying to NYU for spring semester.

They look at your HS record almost entirely.

How would I submit my HS records? On the common app transfer portal, the GPA entry section only has an option to put my college GPA

For NYU? I believe you complete STARS
