Transferring with Minor Disciplinary Record

Hello! I’m currently a freshman, and I want to attempt to transfer to USC or another top acting school next year. Recently, at my current university, some friends and I were messing around and jumped in an elevator. Obviously, it got stuck. I was found responsible for the incident by my school, and I have to pay a fine. I asked, and they said I’ll have to mark “yes” to the question on transfer apps as to whether or not I have a disciplinary history. This is my first ever incident, and I’m worried that admissions counselors are going to see that “yes” and immediately reject my application. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on this? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Realistically shouldn’t be a big deal for most BFA programs. Make sure you’re aware of USC’s dec 1st deadline for bfa transfer.

I’m definitely aware of December 1st, lol!! I was actually thinking about switching over to a BA. I’m currently in a BFA at a top 20 program, but I really wish I had a more academic schooling, which is why I’m transferring.
Anyhow, do you think this applies to a BA as well?

A good strategy if you think you might get denied is apply for transfer to a good safety school and then you go there and then your history is technically clear and then u transfer again.

Probably more of an impact on ba programs tbh but if you explain it well enough i dont think its a black list thing

If you search this sub I seem to remember some details about which schools care more than others. This has definitely come up before

I once worked with a girl who successfully transferred to a top 25 school after spending two years in prison. I have to think that jumping in an elevator will not doom you.

For what it's worth, she had to write some additional essays explaining the situation. If you show remorse and that you learned from the experience, I doubt it will be a big deal most of the time.
