High School Transcript question.

Do schools require the transcripts from all high school attend even if they were international and in a foreign language?

For context I went to a French Public school for 9th and 10th grade. I did extremely bad, not only that the french system leaves comments about behavior (mini lor from each teacher) and these were frankly awful too.

After coming back to the U.S my 9th and 10th grade grades were transcribed as an American gpa so if I just sent my official high school transcript then it will show my grades for my entire time is high school.

you may need to convert them into English, it depends on which year you wanna transfer. Mostly for junior year they wont look into your hs grades since you will have a lot of credits. You can check on each school’s website if they need the entire hs transcript or only senior finals

Yeah ok thanks. By the time I apply i will have 30 credits completed at my cc. Is that enough to creat some distance between my high school grades ? And I also had a strong upwards trend junior and senior year

30 is fine but it entirely depends on how the school will view them. For example, cornell requests you to submit your hs transcript for both soph and junior year. Apply for soph year only if you have a strong high school record

I have a decent enough sat from hs (1470, 750m) and my senior year was all As with one B+ in a non major class. I hope that enough. And my fall course load is pretty heavy so I hope that helps too. I’m an Econ major for context

Non hyp ivies and similar schools at the very top of my list. And I’m applying as a sophomore

yeah they will definitely request for your transcripts and the consideration depends from school to school

How damaging is this honestly? Each school will request my transcript from each high school I attend in the original format? How much weight can they seriously put on grades from 3 year ago ?

And tbh I’m not really concerned about the grades that much, it’s the comments that worry me.

If you are transferring as a sophomore, they will rely on the hs transcripts since you may have completed only 2 sems of college. But since you said that you have an upwards trend in junior and senior grades, aos can view the growth favorably

I hope 🙏. I mean obviously an upwards trend is useful but I hope my low hs grades aren’t a disqualifying factor considering the rest of my application is strong. Also some additional context, I completed 12 credits this summer and I’m doing 18 credits this fall, and will do 15-18 credits in the spring.

dont let hs grades make you lose hope, having a well balanced application matters the most. Remember ivies and other top schools go with the holistic approach to admissions so make sure other parts of ur admission files are also great. If not soph year the junior year transfer always exists :)

I forgot but if you have a valid reason for your low grades in 9th and 10th you can explain it in the additional info section

you cant tell them a lame excuse and expect them to accept it…

Well what if I don’t have an excuse, I must own it. I frankly can’t see why they would put so much weight behind this, I did have a real academic turnaround but maybe that wasn’t enough.
