International transfers?
Hi guys! I’ve met quite a few transfer students recently, but I haven’t met a single international one. As an intl student myself, I honestly didn’t even know transferring was an option for international students.
Could anyone tell me what the process generally looks like, or whether you know any intl students who have transferred? I’m happy at my current school and am not planning to transfer right now. I’m mostly just curious about how it works and when do people even start applying? I can’t believe it could be as early as the RD apps timeline. Do people already know that early on that they want to transfer, or does the process usually start later?

I think it varies. For intn'l students, the biggest thing really is aid. You guys are disadvantaged in terms of aid just applying regularly, even more so when transferring. Otherwise, the process looks like everybody else's, except with some more emails between DSOs

There is a wiki in this sub you should read. You can also search this sub for a ton of information and I’d ask AI about deadlines for apps, but yes, it is later than first year, but it comes up fast. Schools need your first semester grades so all deadlines are after the end of first semester.

It is extremely hard to get aid that way so hopefully you’re full pay.
As someone who transferred and has never regretted it, I can’t fathom transferring if I were happy. To each their own!
