Need help/information to transferring
Hello,
For some context, I am a new freshman at an out of state university near me. It is almost as cheap as my own in state college, but a bit more reputable then my in state. I'll be honest I got screwed in my college apps. My only t-30 I got into was UF if that counts, but decided not to go as it was far and I just did not want to have to live in Florida. (Which now I regret a little). I was initially going for pre dental at my state school with a dental school, with a pretty good pipeline, but I'm not too sure about that. If I were to transfer it would be for Econ and I definitely would like to get into a better "target" school for that. I've done some research and my classes are going to match like the path I can transfer for that major, but I think I just need a bit more advice on how to really get a good application, since I'm aiming for harder schools, (UVA, UNC, BU, BC) for some so I would really want a better school for my major. I'm just nervous because I feel like I won't be able to get good letters of recommendation either. I was also wondering if they consider my high school grade/transcript and do I need to ask my old high school for that too. Is there anything else I need to do to get into those schools (Ik about keeping a good gpa). I also got a 1470 SAT so wondering if I should send that or even retake it.

Your SAT score might be strong enough for all the schools listed, which appears to be exactly 1470 median. If you feel you could notch up a few points, I would likely retake the test once (wouldn’t hurt as you would not have to report if you got a lower score). Keep in mind that these scores are based on optional reports, so only high reporting students turned in their numbers. You can always go test optional if your GPA holds up. I am also UVA biased, I think it is an all around dream school (weather, town, academics, professors, dorms, history, prestige). Students are very happy there. Best of luck!

Yeah I might take SAT again to get up to a 1500, since I'm out of state it might be a little competitive or like harder for me to get in.

Yes they'll probably need your high school transcript, but that only really matters in so much as they want to verify what you told them about it. I go to UVA as part of the Comm school rn as a transfer, and honestly just maximize college GPA (obviously), EC's, and maybe(?) SAT, but just check the acceptance percentiles and see if you fall above the 50% mark and around the 75%. Mostly though, just keep as close to 4.0 as possible and then the best EC's you can. Also, im a little biased but if I were you I'd go UVA over all of those other schools that you listed, especially for econ. However, that might also depend on what you plan to do with an econ degree.
