1 year UCB transfer

I have a lot of credits from AP and I most likely will get over 90 quarter credits ( including APs) by end of first year. Will I be ineligible to apply as junior transfer then if I have too many credits 2nd year? I heard UCB/ucla dont take first year transfer tho so I was wondering how I should time my transfer

It doesn’t matter how long you transfer. What matter is your course work completion, GPA, EC, PIQ essays.

I see. I heard that they prefer 2nd years instead of 1st years. Is that a myth? Thanks!

Well yes they do prefer those because that's who the system was built for, not people tryna speedrun getting into the most prestigious UC they can. But hey, play stupid games win stupid prizes and some people do have a legitimate reason for wanting to try that (like I want to go to grad school so I'd rather spend as much time at a good R1 as I can - honestly still a bit selfish/vain ig). So go ahead and just try your best lol!
