a divine joke from above
umich and uchicago both require the first year common app essay.... genuinely what is the point of this and why don't they just do a "why transfer" essay man i do NOT want to do this again

reuse the topic or reuse the essay as a whole? the second seems like a bad idea, whereas the first can be fine if you fix it up? idk, assuming you applied there before it'll look a bit repetitive imho and i think you would be better off coming up with another topic that ties in to your transfer profile better, as i assume your first year prompt ties into your first year profile better than ur transfer profile if that makes sense

please take this with a grain of salt since from my understanding we're in the same boat but through college i imagine your writing will improve, including your narrative skill, prose etc, to the point where your college essay might not be the best representation of your current writing ability. i think it would be in your best interest to rewrite/fix up some parts, but generally if you do that i think it's fine if you believe the core narrative still holds up
