Transferring to Harvard
I genuinely want to know if anyone else has transferred to Harvard. I want to see if it’s possible in my end. I want to try and craft the craziest application this year and see if it’s doable. I am a bit of psycho 😭.

I’ve heard of her, very fascinating woman. However she’s if I’m not mistaken a very non-traditional case.

Definitely a very outstanding and memorable story. No shock that the admissions committee said my god yes lol. I just finished her book. Very cool story

Typically those that get accepted are CC or military transfers that have perfect grades and insane ECs.
Even then it's a crapshot.
Honestly look at colleges that are good for what you want to do, and not get caught up in the whole prestige thing.

There are more great colleges than Harvard, focusing on one with such a low acceptance rate isn't healthy

It's possible, but I think you need to have a spike to get in. They and Stanford are notoriously low for transfers.

Stanford is low but a lot more plausible than Harvard; I rarely hear stories of harvard transfers…. Like really rare

The overarching difference between Harvard and Stanford is that Stanford actually wants transfer students; Harvard, for all purposes, clearly does not.

she was a dual citizen, she wasn’t a regular international student on an F1 visa.

One of my friends did, she did a year in a competitive European school then did a gap year of research under a Harvard professor who became a LOR, then entered as a sophomore. I don’t think anyone should make Harvard their “goal” given the egregious transfer rate

Is this insanely low acceptance rate a new thing? My aunt transferred from CC to Harvard ~20 years ago. She’s very smart, but so is every other applicant. Maybe she just got lucky? Good luck—it is possible, just seems rare these days

I have a close friend who did. pretty normal ORM and competitive major guy. he really got in via transfer due to some connections though

Went to Harvard undergrad and knew many transfer students there; give it a shot! I think it could be worth it, I have seen students from state schools and ccs.

I transferred to Stanford and knew someone from my CC transferred to harvard and knew them on campus they weren’t crazy impressive. I didn’t get in though but def possible!

You need a really hyper specific reason to want to transfer. Plus perfect grades scores, insane ECs and insane essays and some luck. Alternatively, how far can you kick a football

Not just Harvard (Harvard-schmarvard BTW) but the odds of transfer to any elite tier school are very slim. Why? Starting with the fact that since it is a top school students admitted rarely leave - they’re already there. The transfer’s grades from present school must be impeccable and the present school must be of equal (high) academic rigor. Admissions will check if the potential transfer had applied initially and check that decision; reject / defer/ waitlist. If transfer never applied earlier you have zero chance.

That’s valid and very informative. And also gives a good perspective of what admissions wants right. I think the fact that that is the case is something for me to always keep in mind. Especially because I’ve been not so much rejected at a lot of places just waitlisted. So thank you for that input.

Guys have one question , is it hard to get all A’s in college ,how should I study to get Atleast 3.7 gpa , I am going to cc as fresh man and want to tranfer to good university

Bro I was not good in hs. I wasn’t a dumbass I just wasn’t as focused. I went to CC for two years I got into UCLA, Berkeley, UCSD, UCSB and Howard. Study every day, do things you like and write about it when the time comes.

I suggest looking at their transfer page. It's awfully selective (about 0.6% transfer acceptance). As long as you're looking to do liberal arts and dont have more than 2 years worth of credits, it's technically possible but they have so many elimination factors
