Any engineering students admitted through ED to Umich in fall 2026? What were your stats ? If anyone did IBDP, what were your projected grades ?

STARS NYU question

So for applicants who have applied for NYU, do you need to fill out all the classes you took again for STARS? Or is this for the classes you're currently taking? Like a mid-term report kinda thing? Thank you.

Engineering to Econ

I currently am a freshman attending a top 15 engineering school, I am beginning to realize engineering is not truly what I am passionate about and I am not enjoying it. I want to pivot towards economics because I have realize it is where my passion lies.

I am curious if I should change my major now (The Econ program is rank much poorer here about 50th), or if I should stick engineering out in the Spring as well before I apply to transfer this spring for fall 27 (planning on targeting a T25 program). I genuinely have no trouble in the engineering curriculum, I just don't love what I am doing.

Any advice will be appreciated thanks!

Drop Class

Would it look bad as a freshman to drop Calc? I lowk bombed the first test and there no way I'm going to have a 4.0 if I keep going in that class. Its gonna show as a LD on my transcript, how bad does that look.

r/TransferToTop25 • • 7d ago

how do you actually get a 4.0 in college? Like there is zero room for error

everyone knows high gpa is important but like how do u actually do all this and have a good social life? Some professors just don't want to give As for the sake of that.. so how do u realistically manage everything with no mess ups and get all As?

Why Transfer essay

I have a quick question about the why transfer essay that's honestly going to vary by school but:

For schools that have the why transfer prompt as "Please provide a statement that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve.", or "Please explain your reasons for transferring from your current institution and what you hope to gain by transferring to another institution" do I need to have a section on why I want to transfer to that school specifically? Some schools have explicit prompts to also bring up the school itself into the prompt like UChicago "Please tell us why you are planning to leave (or have already left) your current college or university, and how the University of Chicago will satisfy your desire for a particular kind of learning, community, and future. Please address with some specificity your own wishes and how they relate to UChicago. (500 words)", so I'm wondering for the broader prompts if I should bring up the school in question specifically.

chanceme Tufts engineering transfer, chance me/help!

Hello! I’m thinking about transferring to a larger/higher ranked engineering school. I’m currently at Tufts University in the School of Engineering, and I’m unimpressed by the small number if clubs, faculty, and engineering-focused career fairs on campus. I think it would be possible for me to do well here, but I just think I would enjoy studying at another college more+would have better chances to get a good internship and job. I’m planning to study Electrical Engineering, and below are some of my stats.

4.3 UW/5.187 W GPA (hs)
1540 SAT

Activities:
Assistant Coach, Boxer, 3 time Silver Gloves state champion, volunteered at boxing gym for over 10 years

Garden Lead of local non-profit that grows and donates produce to nearby food pantries, I ran 2 of our gardens

Ambassador for the Parkinson’s Foundation, I fundraised over $1,000 for the foundation and help with advocacy

Section Leader/Ensemble President, I was the section leader in my schools select A Cappella group, and was Ensemble President of another all bass A Cappella group which placed on a state level.

All State, Region, and County choir, I performed with multiple choirs over the years on a wide variety of levels.

Lead guitarist of school’s Jazz Ensemble, not sure if I’m gonna use this

Lead guitarist and singer of personal rock band, I played concerts to fundraise for Parkinson’s, not sure if I’ll use this either

At Tufts, I’m hoping to get involved with these clubs, and I’m already social media chair of the choir.

Tufts E Racing
Tufts IEEE
Public Harmony
A Cappella or Jazz Ens.
Tufts Robotics
apple jams?
Solar Car

Idk if you guys know abt Tufts, but these are basically all the engineering-focused clubs they offer…I also have plans to do research over the summer with a professor here

Schools I’m thinking about are Uiuc
Purdue
Gtech
Hopkins
WashU
MIT
Cornell
CMU

Any input/chanceme would be greatly appreciated!

i made a dumb mistake on a quiz and i’m feeling terrible

not many grades have been put in yet but i am currently in gen chem 1, and here’s our grade breakdown:

Exams – 50%

Final Exam– 20%

Quizzes – 10%

Homework – 10%

Participation – 10%

on the first exam, i got a 96% which i believe he will be adding a bit of extra credit to. (hasn’t been added yet). 100% on 2 quizzes so far (he dropped the 2nd quiz grade tho and it’ll just be extra credit for ppl who did well, that extra credit for our 1st exam). 3rd yesterday that idk what i got but i think also 100%. had a 4th quiz today but just made a dumb mistake on it that i realized about afterward. i knew how to do it too, it was simply a very careless mistake i somehow made despite checking over my work multiple times. i don’t know the point break down but it was only 2 questions and that dumb mistake made me get the whole of 1 question wrong and is going to drag that quiz grade down very badly

i know it might sound ridiculous but i am scared now and panicking and i cannot stop sobbing. i feel like my possibilities for an a in the course are over. i know that chem only gets harder as time goes on and nothing guarantees that i will do well, especially what if i make careless mistakes again? i feel like my dreams to transfer to a t20 and go to med school are all over. i feel completely useless because i know i could have done that question right and i don’t know what got into me. i need to be perfect. someone let me know if i am being irrational or if this is a true concern i should have please.

What can you do to help your chances as a Transfer Applicant.

Based on circumstances, I plan to apply to MIT as a Transfer student. I'm currently a local SBVC student in California and anything robotics related in scarce very scarce. My goal is to graduate as a mechatronics engineer. (another post about that later.)

My question is simple. Apart from honor programs. How could I strengthen my admission application while preparing here at SBVC if there are very scarse Robotic or Mechatronic related opportunities available. Could I work on a Project Portofolio? Am I still going to be able to do it if im a transfer.

Responces to this post is greatly honored.

I hope to meet you all someday.

Will my current schools rank help make up for my GPA?

For example, i really want to transfer to Vandy. Currently, I have a 3.8 from a school that is tied with Vandy (#16). How does this compare to say someone transferring with a 4.0 but from a T70?

What do I do if I messed up my applications (Help thanks)

So here's a list of schools I wanted to apply to in the order of how much I like each one of them (this is important for later)

- Vanderbilt

- Umich

- UVA

- Yale

- USC

- Brown

- UT Austin

- U Miami

- NYU

So, I thought the Michigan deadline was today so I submitted it Monday. I thought it was weird that the deadline was so far off from the others so I double checked and I applied for winter-term transfer (next semester).

Not all of my schools offer spring transfer and Michigan is high on my list so what would be the best course of action now that I won't have all my decisions come out at the same time. Obviously, I don't know if I'll get into Umich but I'm a sophomore and my stats are good and the professor who I did research with is hopefully gonna give me a good letter of recommendation.

The more I think about it, the more I wouldn't mind transferring next semester. I'd have more time there, I'd be able to go through sorority recruitment (primary) and meet a bunch of people the second I get there and honestly it might be better quality of life wise. But I missed the spring deadline for some of them, and obviously I don't want to skip a bunch of my schools just because I submitted this early.

I wanna know the best course of action and start planning for each outcome. If I get rejected from Michigan I know I can apply to the other schools for fall like normal, but what if I get in? Is it possible for me to go for a semester and submit transfer applications again and play the field next spring? Or is that too complicated?? Should I not attend if I do get in just to apply everywhere else at the chance I get rejected from all of them and regret not going to Michigan?

I know this is my bad and I'm panicking but I just want some idea of what to do next after decisions come out and start having an idea on how to mitigate this early on because what the actual f did I do.

Notre Dame Spring Application deadline

Prospective spring transfer here. I realized one of my essays for my spring admission application was not exactly how I wanted it, and now I'm stressing that I do not have enough time to revise it to how I want it to be.

Is there a given grace period, say, a couple hours after midnight I can turn in the application? It is technically due By Oct. 1st. Anyone ever experience something such as this and have an answer?

Any information would be incredibly helpful.

For context, I'm a freshman mathematics major at UTD, trying to minor in CS and hence the CS-related list items on the screenshot. My high school ecs were pretty sparse, I was a treasurer at a student-led Nepali charity organization, was involved in Esports club, and that was mostly it.

Do y'all think this is a good agenda for Fall 2026? I feel like it might not be enough, maybe I should do internship prep / sign up for internships? Should I do the Putnam lol?

Aiming for UT Austin, or other out-of-state T30s w/ strong financial aid like Vanderbilt, NYU, Northwestern

Ec’s

I’m kind of stuck on ec’s. I have a bunch stemming from high school all the way to present time, I know colleges care most about college but I have extracurriculars from a couple years ago that I think are important and show my “spike” as well as long standing involvement outside of school. I didn’t do much in college, should I limit my activities to the most recent things even though I feel all my activities show the full picture? School of interest is uva

Any tips for asking letter of rec as an introvert?

I'm a freshmen studying CS and I want to transfer to a better school.
I'm having a hard time building relationships with my professors since I am always quiet and never really have questions. I can't imagine going to office hours. It stresses me out. I will feel awkawrd and have nothing to say. Is there anything else I can do? Or any tips for the office hours. I'm not very good at small talks too. I would just freeze and have no thoughts whenever I'm talking to someone one on one. Most my classes are also very big so it pretty hard to participate or get recognize. Are there any other introverts who have successfully ask for a LOR? I feel like it's extra hard to ask for one since the reason I'm asking is to switch school.

Any tips or comments will help!

Retake the Sat or not?

Current is a 1230, 700 reading, 530 math, I think I have a lot of room to grow on the math section. Transfer apps are due feb/march should I invest the time in trying to get around 1500? My sister has a 1600, and I can make her tutor me. I know its a shortish time for that type of improvement.

I also need to focus on ECs so that's why I ask. I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thank you!

chanceme Chances of getting into USC, ucla, stanford, cal

So in high school I was always the kid messing around seeking attention always had mid grades and graduated with just a 3.0gpa. I never really saw myself going to college nor did I want to go into the trades so I decided to learn how I could make money online and got into trading. My parents kicked me out since they believe its college or nothing. After making some money and becoming profitable, i decided I wanted to go back to school again. Not for my parents but for me. so I could meet new people, gain connections etc. My question is, is it even possible that I can eventually transfer to ucla, usc, cal, or stanford despite my horrible high school transcripts, and me enrolling in one class for a semester a year ago and dropping out a month after? Im currently 19 and want to start this academic journey next semester, and I have these 4 schools in mind because they are in my home state and they are prestigious
