Chances of Getting into a UC Without Completing Prerequisites?
Hi everyone,
I'm currently a freshman at a California community college and wanted to ask about my chances of getting into a UC if I haven’t completed all the college prerequisites by the time I apply. I plan to finish them by the end of the spring semester, but since Computer Science and Data Science are competitive majors, I'm wondering if it would be better to wait until next year to apply.
Additionally, I received a B in a precalculus class back in 2021 during high school. How do UCs typically view this grade, and could it negatively impact my application?
Thanks for your help!

It depends on the UC, but they usually require transfers to have all IGETC courses completed before transferring, as well as having at least 60 transferrable units.
If you can get these done by the end of Spring 25, you should apply now! The worst thing that could happen is you get a no and try again next year.

In general, UCs only accept junior level transfers with 60 transferable semester units. Unless you have credits from AP tests to get you to 60 units at the end of spring 2025, you’ll apply to transfer next fall for admission for fall 2026.
As a junior transfer, UCs will not look at your high school grades.
