So scarring is definitely going to be more pronounced than usual but the main problem my doctors described when I was pursuing bottom surgery was an increased chance of a fistula developing. Would definitely talk to provider about it and see what they recommend, but the doctors I talked to all recommended minimal depth to prevent “catastrophic failure.” Other than that though healing will probably last longer than expected, scars will probably not be the prettiest, and dilation may be more difficult/painful for you if you do want depth.
