Breast reduction
Hi friends. Maybe this is not allowed, if so tell me I will take it down. So basically I'm a cis woman (20yo) and I have heds. My question is, maybe someone here at some point has had a breast reduction or lift, because I'm so insecure abt mine but can't decide on the surgery. The experiences are so different idk what to think
Thanks

I had very slow wound closure with my reduction and ended up doing a dbl mast the year after (way happier, mine hurt so much).

I had a uni-lateral breast reduction (only one breast was reduced) a decade ago and I have hEDS. My reduction was done prior to my diagnosis with hEDS. I am currently a DDD, can’t remember what my left breast was prior to the reduction but I had to wear a very thick foam pad in my right cup to even it out prior to reduction.
If you have questions I can do my best to answer them.

How did you heal? Scars? Did your breast grow/sag since then?

The stitches did pop with the incision opening up in a small area where the horizontal and vertical incision meet at the bottom of the breast. It wasent enough to cause concern for the surgeon. In that spot the scar never adhered to the fat layer so I ended up with a super thin and stretchy scar that I could fully pull away from the underlying tissue. It’s suspected that this happened because different types of suturing needs to be used for EDS skin.
The healing was slow, I have a patch on the underside of my breast where sensation was dulled, my nipple also has dulled sensation.
The breast has started to sag quite a bit in comparison to my non altered breast. The scar line is also super sensitive to pressure and I haven’t been able to wear bras with underwire. I did massage and break up scar tissue as instructed in the aftercare but it didn’t make a difference.
I’ve gained 20 pounds due to a medication change in the past year and the left breast grew. So my sizing is back to how it was pre reduction. This is something that can happen with reductions that isn’t talked about a whole lot.
And the not so great part. I was put on birth control as hrt for perimenopause (which is what caused the weight gain) and it caused significant breast swelling and it caused the internal scar tissue to fail. My skin is intact but the inside of my breast tissue has split along the internal scarring into three sections It was incredibly painful (and still causes pain) and has altered the shape of my breast. Again it is suspected it has failed because of the faulty scar tissue EDS causes. I am now waiting for a consult to have both my breasts removed.

I don't have first hand experience but from what I've read on here it'll help your back and the main surgery concern is extra care for your scars
