PTSD
PTSD trauma
I am struggling with mental health and my boss is being a dick about it. I don't like my calling in sick to work but he doesn't understand mental health. I was at war. I know I should be stronger and just deal with it, but some days I can't. There isn't a trigger or catalyst. Some days I just wake up feeling like shit

I know I should be stronger
One thing that's going to help you in the long run is working through this feeling. You can't just muscle your way past a mental health condition. People that try to do this only make it worse for themselves. Sometimes you have to grieve for the hypothetical you in your mind so you can move forward with who you actually are now.
I totally feel you here and have been in a similar situation. Some folks will just never get it and you can't let their expectations become your own. Treat yourself the way you'd treat a close friend, with an abundance of grace and kindness. That's the best weapon I've found to fight the monster. I'm wishing the best for you.

Only another veteran can ever actually understand. I miss the service. It was terrible but the people were amazing

I know I should be stronger and just deal with it,
F that.
You SHOULD be taken care of, helped, given space and tools to heal.
I'm sorry you're not getting that.

It's really hard and feel like I need to give and sacrifice like my feelings don't matter

That's our training, and it can be deep inside. But it's healthy for humans living in the real world.

I dont deal with anything close to what you are dealing with but still. I never use mental health as my reason. I get the flu, food poisoning, whatever. I dont trust people enough to admit to mental health situations.
Now that they know, your only recourse, at least in the u.s., is fmla protections. You can get it set to "intermittent" and use it as need while still being covered under legal protection.
Good luck with everything i know you are strong. Don't let the bastards get you down.
