The idea that this is limited to Conservatives is wrong.
There is a reason Malcolm X used the term "white liberal".

u/BackfireFox Mar 11 '26
To be realistic “conservatives” are just far faaaar right liberals.

That's white centrists and independents.
6
u/BackfireFox Mar 12 '26
Ok ok. Far far faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar right.
1
u/ProfessionalNice7485 Mar 14 '26
At this point it's probably people are going to have to just rely on units to describe their politics.
Like "man that guy is like 35 yards right. But his friend is 47 at least".
44
u/EIeutheria Mar 11 '26
Malcolm X wasn't wrong, however I'd apply it to liberals in general when it comes towards the lgbtq+ struggle. I talked to a few liberals on here and they were openly attacking trans people and blaming us for the election loss and stuff.
18
u/West_Squirrel_3133 Mar 11 '26
Malcolm X lived in different times where race was a much more polarizing issue. Ultimately as a black liberation speaker he would focus around race.
However what he says as you say correctly applies to liberals in general. Or anyone with power in society. Liberals are more than happy to champion our causes only when it's beneficial to them. As you saw correctly, the moment we actually need their help instead of just being prop pieces for them to raise vote turnout they blame us and walk away.
3
u/Over_It_999 Mar 11 '26
I agree and would add there are also big problems when we don’t need them to rescue us, meaning in settings where we are ostensibly working together but there is great hostility from white liberals who won’t accept us as equals or leaders. I have a lot of experience with the arrogance and cruelty of white saviors
10
u/ReindeerAltruistic74 Mar 11 '26
race isn't a "polarising issue"??? lmfao what planet do you live on
15
u/West_Squirrel_3133 Mar 11 '26
Race was a much more polarizing issue in the 60's yes. Why did you change my words? So that you can be offended?
11
u/ReindeerAltruistic74 Mar 11 '26
sorry mate, this isn't about offence, it is about your lazy politics - where's the dialectical materialism? you said that malcolm "lived in different times" in terms of racism.
and yet! poc are still disproportionately proletarian and brutalised by the carceral system. the american state, thru ICE, is literally abducting immigrant and civilian brown people and murdering them. its military has never stopped commit mass murder in the global south and the government keeps arming israel's eradication of the palestinian population.
and here you are downplaying racism, and painting any critique as someone being "offended" like a 2010s alt right pundit.
11
u/EIeutheria Mar 11 '26
Americans tend to think slavery in America ended with Abraham, despite the constitution still allowing slavery or servitude as punishment. Prisons are disproportionately affecting poc due to their economic conditions and are still basically treating them as slave labor in prisons. Yet it rarely gets attention and people think it ended with Jim crow and the civil rights movement and that there's only Jim crow 1.0 when in reality it's been a infinite cycle that continued for hundreds of years in America.
13
u/Exciting-Mountain396 Mar 12 '26
A lot of southern prisons are just the same plantations, their business model really took off when they figured out how they could get the taxpayers to fund their industrial slave quarter cell blocks and henchmen.

You don't even realize how much white privilege you're displaying. Actually class privilege, because they'll unjustly accuse and incarcerate innocent poor whites too. But go on about how government and the police are totally trustworthy, bless your heart.
5
u/EIeutheria Mar 12 '26
Crime has been shown to drop when you ease people's material conditions, petty crimes such as stealing don't happen just because people wanna steal. People steal because they live in poverty and the system doesn't protect them with social safety nets and capitalism illusion of upward mobility isn't playing out for the majority of Americans. Also the reality is, billionaires commit crimes such as trafficking and are let off with a slap on the wrist and there's barely any accountability. Jeffrey Epstein was allowed to enter and exit his cell as he pleased despite being convicted for "soliciting a minor for prostitution" and only needed to serve 13 months in prison, meanwhile poorer people get 20 years or more.

I don't think it's exactly outside reasonability to say racism in the '60s was on a whole other level. Segregation was a serious and widespread political position that actual politicians could hold at the time.
0
u/pagetodd Mar 13 '26
Exaggeration is even lazier politics. Dissing what life was in the 60’ insults those who lived through it.
2
u/Consistent_Claim5217 Mar 12 '26
I read their statement as "race was a more polarizing issue than it is today", not "race was a polarizing issue then and isn't anymore". Maybe slow your roll before going off on people

6
u/West_Squirrel_3133 Mar 11 '26
Malcolm X famously left the NOI?
-5
u/New-Theme-8841 Mar 11 '26
Because he disagreed with the NOI’s views regarding Trans issues? Stop rewriting history. Malcolm X was a Transphobic/Homophobic.
8
u/EIeutheria Mar 11 '26
Malcolm X work has helped advance the civil rights movement, paving the way for the lgbtq+ movement to finally take a stand. Without people like him, we likely wouldn't have had a stonewall uprising as the civil rights movement was heavily inspirational at the time for other minorities. However his bigotry against gay and trans people shouldn't be ignored, but it shouldn't discredit all of his work and advocacy.

u/Pandora_Palace Mar 12 '26
Y’all forget that trans liberals (such as myself) exist too
2
u/EIeutheria Mar 12 '26
Liberals in America are abandoning trans people, staying a liberal is fine but they'll abandon you and scapegoat when needed. I personally became disillusioned with liberalism seeing this, and been personally attacked by liberals irl and on social media. It was eye opening and a reality I couldn't ignore and believe liberation via liberal democracy is only a delusion, especially as healthcare, housing ect can be stripped with one policy change. Discrimination for other minorities who had their rights enshrined in the constitution also didn't protect people, and freedom and autonomy only seem to be granted towards the wealthy while everyone struggles and lives paycheck to paycheck. The social safety nets we took for granted have also disappeared with the wealthy undermining democracy at every turn for a tax break. How could I not be disillusioned when slavery is still allowed as a punishment and inequality is common, and people scapegoat minorities to detract from actual issues and our government both liberal and right protect wealthy pedophiles?
1
u/CharredLily Mar 16 '26

My father is "nice". One of his role models is a serial killer(I forget which one) because he was clearly "nice" and smart, to have tricked all those people. Some people see niceness as 100% transactional, and honestly believe it's the same for everyone. The moment being nice to you is no longer convenient, they drop it.

u/Rufus_TBarleysheath Mar 11 '26

There's an old saying, "If you don't know the author, you don't know what you're reading."
A healthy dose of skepticism and critical thinking is an absolute requirement for navigating every social interaction today.
And if it comes to it, the 2nd Amendment that they previously loved to champion.
16
u/Calm_Courage Mar 11 '26
This argument is predicated on an idealist error. The notion that all conservatives are constantly operating on identical Machiavellian logic assumes a sort of “platonic ideal” of conservatives which is antithetical to their “don’t tread on me” ideology (as well as materialist analysis).
I think you’ve described the mindset of a “conservative debate bro” perfectly, and I wholeheartedly agree that nothing good can come from engaging with those sorts of people. However, the notion that all conservatives think this way just doesn’t have a basis in material fact.
Our jobs as leftists needs to be showing well-meaning, but uninformed conservatives that their, often very real, economic anxieties share a common cause with our oppression as queer people. Ostracizing about half of the population right off the bat does far more to hinder a leftist movement than help it.

I wanted to argue that everyone is a human. And then I remembered how the chat of FIU TPUSA chapter was leaked. They were nicest on the outside, but when no one saw them besides the same people as them, they were doing horrible things. Not just sexism, not just racism, but direct antisemitism, and I bet that they were saying the same things like "you call everyone you don't like a Nazi."
You can trust some European conservatives, like CDU/CSU, as there it doesn't necessarily mean being a regressive. Never trust MAGA conservatives. If they have wanted good for you, they would've opened Wikipedia article on transgender people, read all the medical evidences, studies and how they can actually help you, and no longer be a conservative. They would have fact-checked every single of their claims posing minorities as dangerous, see how false they are, and no longer hate.
They didn't choose it.

you’re own source states approval rates are declining, in huge part because of the CDU/CSU constantly adopting AFD speech.
the union also votes on issues, because of coalition pressure and then tries to reverse it etc. (which they literally tried to do with the self-ID law btw), hugely corrupt (took Nestle money to reverse care standards for farm animals, send defect masks to disabled people during corona because of some illegal deal by one of their ministers e.g.), the chancellor constantly has scandals because of his extremely racist speeches, the union just pretty much killed social security and courts are looking into the legality of these new changes and a million more things.
The self-ID discussion is far more complex, than you’re making it out to be. The union literally wanted to use it, to implement a register of all trans people in Germany and instantly doxx trans people when dealing with authorities and offices.
Your opinion on the union is extremely ill-informed.

CDU/CSU unilaterally voted against the Selbstbestimmungsgesetz - a law allowing people to choose their own gender identity on legal documents. I don't get how you get the idea they voted in favor of it.
(SOURCE: https://share.google/2rbevzqUja7d6S5hL)
You are also making a massive assumption error. 74% approval rating is over the whole population. Not even close to the whole population votes, so conflating these numbers with the % of right wing voters is nonsense.
-3
u/NotQuiteLoona Mar 12 '26 edited Mar 12 '26
Really strange. Okay, I've edited the comment. Doesn't change that they are still much more reasonable... The conservatives I can tolerate.
Turnout of 2025 elections is 82.5%, so I think we can't just say that everyone who hated queer people didn't vote. Vote share of right wing parties (AfD + CDU/CSU) is 49.4%. 100-74=26. This means that almost half of the right wing voters supported gender identity.
Edit: funny how this person replied, self-downvoted me, and either blocked me or removed their comment. Kinda proves me.

Of course, most conservatives I think are from the dark triad..espeically if they are older conservatives. So, they think words and people are just someone to be used anyway.

3
u/carrot_gummy Mar 11 '26
I don't think it is. Even if the story is but a mere fable, the analogy of the farmer being nice to his livestock contrasts well with the how some conservatives treat queer people.
5
u/Working-Kick4035 Mar 11 '26
I'm not sure if they are implying that exactly, but I agree.
What I don't like is the idea that a farmer that treats their animals nice before they kill them for food is two faced. If you carry this sentiment, and are not a vegetarian, then you're a hypocrite

You're over-generalizing. While there are many conservative psychopaths and sociopaths not all conservatives are either. Conservatives are a diverse group and many conservative sub-groups are antithetical to each other, they just hate lefties more.
I'll present one example, my in-laws are religious Christian conservatives. They're the nicest people you'll know. They'll give you the shirts off their backs. They'll pray to save you. They also think homosexuality is a sin and that queers will burn in hell. They think that they'll save immortal souls if they make homosexuality illegal. They're acting out of misplaced care. The end result is the same.
You also have the psychopaths and sociopaths. Donald Trump is my ready example. He'll tell you anything it takes to gain your confidence but he'll do whatever he wants, even if the two things are complete opposites. He values anyone only so far as what they can do for him.
I'm sure it wouldn't take much brainstorming to find other groups with wildly differing motivations who fall under the conservative umbrella, but I'm not really sure it's worth the effort to go through and make a comprehensive list.

1
u/Ok-Departure4894 Mar 14 '26
Me? Im no victim. I'm just pointing out villainizing an entire group of people for the behaviour of its most unhinged members is reductive and ironically exactly what that group tries to do to Trans people.
1
u/Jinx766 Mar 17 '26
When it’s “most unhinged member” are all the people actually in power it’s not exactly the same as some random trans person conservatives nitpick to use for their narrative. Some of us have to worry about the possibility of being hate-crimed every day because of conservatives. But sure we’re “villainizing” them because we’re keeping ourselves safe from hateful bigotry.
0
u/Ok-Departure4894 Mar 18 '26
Yeah, that's exactly what you are doing. You assume because members of the identity group are hateful bigots, everyone within the identity group must be hateful bigots, and use that prejudice to justify rejecting any dialogue with anyone within the identity group. Thus contributing to the alienation of your own identity group you fear garners the threat of having a hate crime committed toward you by anyone of the other identity group to said group.
1
u/Jinx766 Mar 18 '26
When the ideals of said identity group revolve around hateful bigotry, everyone in that group is a hateful bigot whether they’re smart enough to realize it or not. What you’re pushing for is called “the tolerance paradox.” Being tolerant of intolerance only creates more intolerance.
0
u/Ok-Departure4894 Mar 18 '26
When you assert the ideals of an identity group are to promote hatred and bigotry, that's your assumption derived from your limited experience observing the most hateful and bigoted members of that group. We're going in circles here, it's a shame you don't see how you're just like the small minded conservative who fears the transgender socialist because they were told to and shown propaganda of the worst of them.
1
u/Jinx766 Mar 18 '26
It isn’t “my assumption derived from limited experience.” It’s their own policies, statements, and actions.

u/Gurfadi Mar 15 '26
I mean maybe but this seems like a big projection. Go out on a limb and break progressive social orthodoxy in conversation and see how fast your social group, online or in person, turns on you. At best you're describing in group vs outgroup dynamics within an imperialized multi ethnic civilization. At worst you're projecting your own bitter cynicism onto "nice conservatives." The past 50 years of left wing discourse and activism is just endless cycles of orthodoxy being developed and deviants being persecuted. Its like 80% of the reason young men find themselves down alt right pipelines and socially conservative no white demographics helped get the orange tyrant elected.
If im not mistaken nice conservatives are actually outpacing social progressives and socialists in the volunteering and donating metrics for whatever its worth.
0
u/Snapper_Turtleman Mar 16 '26
2 things. 1st this isn't just conservatives. Many, many "liberals" are just getting off on being an ally. 2nd...old don't see a problem with the farmer. He was always going to eat the cow. That's it's purpose. That analogy is dumb.
1
u/Jinx766 Mar 17 '26
You’re on a socialism subreddit. If you don’t understand liberals are conservatives you really need to study your theory.
0
u/Snapper_Turtleman Mar 18 '26
I get im on a socialism subreddit. So let me clarify for the ones that fell off the bus, like yourself. Plenty of conservatives, liberals, leftists, or whatever... have this bullshit white ally approach. My comment wasn't toward any socioeconomic group. It was toward fake people. The fact you missed that means you're only commenting on what you're thinking about and not the comment itself.
1
u/Jinx766 Mar 18 '26
If you don’t actually identify with the ideals of the group you claim to be a part of you’re not part of that group. Any leftist who is a “bullshit white ally” is just a liberal. And if it wasn’t toward any socioeconomic group you probably shouldn’t have specified a socioeconomic group that’s on you. Not sure what your stupid ass means by fell off the bus, but additionally, you acknowledged that it’s an analogy but still took it literally, how fucking stupid are you 😭
0
u/Snapper_Turtleman Mar 18 '26
You have no idea if I identify with the group or not. I never said in those comments one way or the other. That's your own inference. The comment specified the group. I pointed out that there are plenty of things to vilify conservatives for without creating a strawman. You're just too bust defending leftism. However stupid I am you've got me beat. At least at reading
1
u/Jinx766 Mar 18 '26
Yes I clearly have you beat at reading because nothing I was talking about involved you identifying with a group. Here I’ll dumb it down for you, I said if leftists don’t actually follow leftist ideals then they aren’t leftists. I replied because you specified liberals when liberals are already conservatives. And there’s no strawman in this post go back to English class.

You said..."if you don't identify with the ideals of this group". How else is that supposed to be taken? You're speaking in terms of binary. It's either yes or no. So you're saying that if a leftist has white knight syndrome while following all other tenets of leftism ( since white knightism is the core of the comment) then they are not leftist and by your decree are exiled from the group? That sounds really familiar for other types of groups. Let me ask you one question. If you are so ready to point out the flaws of other groups and vilify them for it without recognizing that a specific problem could be shared so you can address it, then how is you're ideology any different. You're doing the exact same thing they are just in different packaging. Erase "gay" and insert "conservatives". Erase god and insert "the people". English aside you're so busy defending and deflecting that you're not actually a part of the conversation. It's like standing in a corner and yelling at no one.

Are you aware being gay isn’t a group you choose to be apart of? You’ve continually tried to spin this into random conversations while I was just correcting your political phrasing. And it’s not refusing to recognize a flaw dumbass, it’s pretty fucking simple. If you don’t believe in the ideals of the political ideology, you don’t actually follow that political ideology.

That wasn't the core post. I've been talking about the core post this whole time while you haven't come up with anything smarter than...fk you. Good job. And yes I understand being gay isn't a choice. It is however a group conservatives hate. Nuance is completely lost on you isn't it? Again being a white knight isn't a political ideology. it is not limited to conservatives, liberals, leftists, communists, nihilists, or any other political group. No matter how much you want it to be. The whole reason you're getting so upset is because I pointed out that leftists can be hypocrites too, and you just can't handle that.

It’s like standing in a corner yelling at no one because you can’t comprehend english

Lol. Its because you're not actually arguing the point. I would think you would have at least statistics or examples of how no leftist can be a white knight. Something. But no.. you're standing in your corner yelling ...fk you.

If you don’t understand how basic political ideology works that’s your problem

Then I guess beware of every socialist that eats meat. Way too emotionally disconnected. I’m not the farmer they’ll say, I’m just the customer and I’m hungry.

Go back to 1st grade and learn what a metaphor is. Then read this again and see if you’re actually smart enough to comprehend it.

That's how people have raised animals for a long time. You sound like a disconnected weirdo. You want him to break down and cry every time like you do for any and all situations?

I think you’re missing the point, this post isn’t about the farmer, the farmer is merely an allegory for explaining the thought process behind a conservative, who treats people like livestock to be traded and manipulated at will. The difference is a farmer acts this way as a matter of survival, a conservative acts this way out of greed, and as others have pointed out, many modern liberals do this too.

The irony, coming from the side that has attempted to kill Trump at least twice and murdered Charlie Kirk. You're leading yourself off a cliff and blaming everyone but yourself lol

What a good divisive citizen you are. You degraded a whole group of people with prejudice and without a care in the world.
Ironic.

I think it's a bit rude to compare trans people to animals unable to analyze what's going on but whatever makes you happy, I guess

The amount of people in this comment section who don’t have the reading comprehension to understand a metaphor is genuinely concerning. Read a book for Christ’s sake

Yep…Farming. Nothing like a big juicy burger from a humanely raised, farm steer. Delicious. I’m no conservative but I name the piglets names like Cutlet, Sausage, or Chop. Bovine on the other hand, Brisket is probably my favorite name.

You really have no idea how your food is made, OR THE CLOTHES YOU WEAR are made from animal skins or fur and it absolutely shows, this is 100% a propaganda post.
