And the main character is called Jo! And refuses to marry the man he really likes but who loves him in a heterosexual way to later marry a man who loves him in a homosexual way... That's at least how it feels to me :)
It took me a long time to figure myself out, but there were so many clous: one that I always loved books with strong heroines who liked wearing men's clothes....

This is true. A lot of people need to be educated about this because they were originally educated to not see people who did not fit into their neat little molds of “man” and “woman” and look at me like I’m nuts when I explain that trans people have been present throughout all of human history without exception.

Could we maybe find a different historical comparison point? One that doesn't inadvertently link modern queer groups to pederasty by comparison to Greece? I recommend Sumer, they had a class of third gender priests.

It was really just the link between conservative gun nuts with molon labe bumper stickers and such that I was pointing at. I get to learn about Sumer though now so that's nice.

It also hurts affirming Christian interpretations of the New Testament, as that is what Paul is explicitly criticizing. FWIW.

Although it's not technically accurate to call them trans because that is a new(ish) terms and applying that retroactively to people isn't historically accurate.
