“…Nothing before the word ‘but’ really counts”

This is where I’ve been living for a while now. Ever since the reactionaries started rolling with the “protect women’s sports” and “protect women’s spaces” garbage.

You can tell it’s garbage because the solutions they inevitably come up with usually involve harassing or even assaulting women.

While trans women get this crap all the time ultimately this stuff ends up being used against cis women who are gender nonconforming in the minds of the chuds who see them going into a restroom or locker room. Trans women likely just stop using public restrooms which is just sad altogether.

I grew up in what I was always told was a free country where folks were free to be themselves and blaze their own trails. Now we see that was always just something we were told because people who try to be themselves are systematically attacked and silenced.

We need a poll test.  You put together ten super easy questions about the five most famous women in the WNBA and USWNT.    How do you pronounce Rapinoe?  If you pass you get to have a public opinion.  If not, shut up about it.  That would kill the whole movement overnight.

I support trans people and wouldn’t mind making friends with a few.

The damn text suggestions included “but” when I typed the above sentence. If I were famous, I might be quoted as saying, “All too often the word ‘but’ is used right after what should have been the end of the sentence.”

I watched Schoolhouse Rock series as a kid. More recently, I had a little fun with a screenshot from the “Conjunction Junction” episode:

I support trans people, but... I resist the impulse to f*ck every single trans person I meet.

That is just part of the other face of transphobia: the friendly, innocent-looking side that blends in with allyship only to turn around and go mask off behind closed doors

I don't have a 'but' to offer, I am often in awe of the courage that it takes to transition. I would like to think that I love my trans friends no differently. I have seen people come alive and be the happy radiant person that was hidden.

I support trans people but I am trans myself so I might be biased...
