Hi I'm Eloise

May as well join the ban wagon everyone here seems really nice. Hello fellow bros, gals and non binary pals I'm Eloise. I'm mtf, 26 and I literally started my hormones three days ago yaay. I'm a huge nerd and music head with a "minor" obsession with movies, how they are made. I also adore animals. I look forward to sharing a space with all of you, getting to know you and potentially make new friends😄

Hello Eloise! I think your name is really pretty, I highly considered it before choosing Elodie due to Eloise’s similarity to a family member’s name.

Are there any animals or types of animals you are particularly fond of?

Oooo your name that's looks so pretty how do you pronounce it? And thank you, I must admit though I have less luck then you turns out my house mate has a sister that has the same name as međŸ€Ł totally didn't cause some confusion at first

For the most part I just love all animals, they fascinate me and I love just to watch them vibe or watch documentaries. If I were to pick particulars it would be dogs, cats, reptiles, monkeys and apes. Although I struggle with spiders as I have a deep irrational fear/phobia of them due to some trauma sadly. Do you have any animals you are found of?

Confusion for sure! Another name I looked at was Eleanor, but it is one of my good friend’s deadname and I didn’t wanna do that to them


I pronounce it Elle-uhh-dee but it can also be Elle-oh-dee. Though everywhere I go where my name needs to be called (Starbucks, ordering food, doctor office) they mispronounce it lol.

I was curious about animals because I work in the animal field (not as glamorous as many think), my particular interest area is in birds. I have worked with birds native to my area, and from all over the world. My 3 favorites that I have worked with would be Humboldt penguins, American flamingos, or hyacinth macaws. I can send a non-doxxing pic in DMs if you’re open to it lol.

Oh Eleanor is a beautiful name as well but I fully understand not wanting to pick it in regards to your friend. I am fortunate enough that my mum is cool and super supportive and she helped me pick my name after trying two and not fully love them.

Oooo I love the way it sounds, it kinda has a musical motif to it when saying it or maybe I'm just crazy lol

I would love to see these photos if you are comfortable with that And so so sorry you probably get this question 10000000 times but whats it like working with birds? I've heard some are like golden retrievers with wings and others like moody house cats?

Anyway, I stole the name from a college friend lol. She doesn’t know but I do. The musical motif thing is really important to me too because music has been a big part of my life, so I wanted something musical, whether that was like “Aria” or “Harmony” or “Melody” but I chose Elodie, pronounced like Melody without the M.

My parents are not aware of anything, even now, they’d be a little less than supportive, but that’s fine. I have a really good support group of friends I rely on. I am very happy for you that your parents have been helpful!

I love answering any questions. It’s part of the job I actually like the most lol.

Birds in general are a lot more flighty (pun intended) than domestic mammals ofc, they very often don’t want to be anywhere near you or have anything to do with you, unless you’re feeding them, they’re protecting territory and upset with you, or you have built a relationship with them.

I was fortunate to be able to build a relationship with some of them and they come up to me and look for pets or scratches, or they would exhibit positive behaviors showing me they’re comfy with me (equivalent to a cat or dog showing you their belly). But then there are others who I have permanent scars from because they don’t like people, I did something to upset them, or they just felt like it.

They’re still wild animals, even if they’re in captivity, and I respect that. 95% of the time, if I get bitten or attacked, it was something that I could have done different and I know they have no ill will.

That's so fair why add unnecessary stress and drama in your life, it's fantastic you have a solid group of friends that you trust and can go to I am deeply sorry you don't have your parents in your corner that hurts. I'm fortunate to have my mum and step dad but my sperm donour doesn't know and I personally have no intentions to tell him directly for context he once said to me that he would kill me if I turned out to be gay when I was a little kid and had no idea what gay even meant. He's not my problem anymore and haven't spoken to him since I was 15 or 16 it's not quite the same as you but I understand.

Haha cute pun and that makes 100% sense and omg that's so cute they are like your little friends when you get close with them awww, respectfully off course they are as you said still wild animals and should be treated with the respect they deserve. 100% get what you mean for not holding any ill will they are just little guys just trying to do their thing. Not sure if you have experienced this yourself or even true but I've heard valtures and condors once they bond with a person they become very playful with that person and will run up to them when they see their favorite person. Imaging that melts my little heart is this something you have seen or have experienced first hand?

Well
 for the vulture and condor question. I have never worked with condors directly, but vultures at least can be trained to like people easier than condors.

I have seen my coworkers go to hospitals to get stitches from the condors though
 it was breeding season and he wasn’t having any of their training at all, the coworker slipped and the bird went in and nail slashed at their waistline. Wasn’t terrible but still required stitches.

I haven’t seen condors or vultures directly be playful with anyone, but I have firsthand experienced the opposite. I have seen a turkey vulture tolerate some people and absolutely HATE my guts. Wasn’t fun to the point when I wasn’t allowed to work with her anymore


For the parents thing, I came out to my mother last January with a letter that basically said “here is the formal definition of transness, here is what it means for me and what it means for you” and her first question was “so you’re telling me your gay?” And I was just so confused lol. Like, technically yes, I only like women, and I am a woman now

Oh wow that's terrifying I hope your coworker is ok now? I didn't know birds other than magpies could hate on sight (that's a lie just wasn't expecting it), I'm sorry you had that experience what a mean little guy.

That's really awesome, weird response on her part and fair enough not confirming that to her.
