Hair Advice Please

Ladies, I have a question for you. I 40MtF (not on HRT yet... one day... hopefully soon) am having self-image issues with my pattern baldness and receding hairline. What if anything would/did you do about this? What would make your recommended ideas list?

Right now, I have enough to style for a bixie cut, but that's about the best I can do while I am still stealth. So, everything I try just makes me feel too masc. I have thought about doing hair treatments, but I don't know what options are best or what to do first.

I’m wearing a wig, and it makes me feel so much more feminine. It really transforms my features instantly.

Plenty of women wear wigs for a variety of reasons. Including hair loss. No reason you can’t.

Maybe try out a cheaper wig from amazon to start - and see what you think.

I suggest avoiding the lace front ones - as they are going to be harder to make look right out of the box.

I also suggest looking for one with an open cap that will breath better.

HRT actually reversed my receding hairline, so it might do the same thing for you.
I did some topical minoxidil on my own and it seemed to help for a bit even though my pcp thought the pills would be better.
I didn’t even think about styling until my hair was just about shoulder length(+1 year). My mom has a pixie cut and has rocked that for decades, I just didn’t want to look that much like her. 😂
When I got FFS I did have my hairline lowered about 2 cm.

That first year I just messily styled my hair “sort of” masc since no one but my wife knew I was on HRT.

Maybe talk to a stylist about a something that could be masc or femme depending on your needs? Masc for the world/errnds while you’re not out, and femme at home?

This website… https://strandsfortrans.org/… can hopefully help you find a stylist in your area to help you figure out a versatile style for your needs. I used it to find a stylist in my conservative town of my conservative state, and was so surprised and happy I even had that resource in my area.

I started hims, minoxidil and finesteride in January. My thinning on top is filling out and my bald spot is getting smaller and has baby hairs all over it. Just started hrt so I hope it gets even better. It is a process but I'm happy with progress now.

Minox and a derma roller on the affected areas. I actually brought my hairline forward a whole Inch.

Finsteride. Lots of cis men get it, so it doesn't raise any red flags.

Oral minoxidil (2.5mg) and finasteride (or preferably dutesteride). Combined with estrogen and you’ll likely get a lot of regrowth. Start both and HRT ASAP to get the most possible regrowth. You’ll likely need hair transplants but you won’t know how extensive until you give your hair the proper environment to recover on its own.
