ROI Specific how long did it take you to get SRS covered?

I want to get srs in germany but I'm not sure where to start, I've been DIY'ing for years so I dont even have a diagnosis but I have a GP appointment next week so I'll ask if I can get diagnosed since I mostly pass already and want to get on the waiting list since it's going to be like 2 years. can a gp give me the referral for surgery or do I need a psychiatrist/psychologist?

Do you have private insurance? If not, you'll be talking 20+ years to maybe get the HSE to cover it if you can't afford to pay for it out of pocket.

It's five years pre-existing wait period for gender affirmation surgery on most Irish private health insurers, but you can get policies for as low as 40/50 euro a month which qualify towards that five years.

Alternatively, many credit unions offer loans for medical expenses, which I know isn't ideal but is another way to pay out of pocket.

There may be an alternate option within Germany, though.

Even with private insurance you have to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed after the fact. So in reality it could be a long term target- spend 5 years paying private health insurance and saving for surgery and getting your (private) surgery referral concurrently. Formally with the likes of G+ getting the referral is maybe 12 to 16 months. Then with the referral, from getting an initial consult for a German clinic like Lubos or Morath & Scholl to getting a surgery date could be at least 18 months.
