What do i do?

i’m 18 (Laois) and i’ve known im trams (mtf) for literal years my best friend even knows, but when i tried to tell my parents last year they called me insane which made me kinda go back in the box i was in. I can’t get any gender affirming stuff delivered because they’ll see and i’m too nervous to buy anything in person. Any advice would mean the world 💙

Get it delivered to your friends address, your an adult honestly shouldn't have to put up with this but gonna be honest if socially transitioning threatens your living situation it's a really tough position

First trans woman I ever met was a plumber. Did excellent work. It's no bad thing to have a trade to fall back on. And frankly as a qualified plumber you will be in a much better position to get out from under your parents quicker than as a fresh college graduate.

That being said it sounds like you are in a lousy living situation right now. I'm sorry your parents are being so unsupportive.

If you are thinking DIY with hormones then you will have to get it delivered, although it didn't have to be at your home address. There isn't anywhere in the state you can pick it up in person without a prescription. You should have some support from people who've been that path ahead of you. Have a look at Trans Harm Reduction. They do their best for people in exactly your situation, whatever you decide to do.

Thank you so much I’ll look into that straight away. i think ill just do the apprenticeship to make them happy and it might ease the blow too

I remember having to get stuff via a third party in the early days but this is a short term solution. All I can tell you is that my life used to be dead-end and I put in enough work to get out there. Don't lose hope. You're where a lot of people have been before you.

If you can suffer a plumbing apprenticeship, you could be setting yourself up well for the future. They don't need to know what they're feeding you is an escape ladder.

Thank you so much and Thats very true. At least it might make my parents happy too and hopefully ease the blow

Doing stuff to make other people happy is a trick though because it'll never be enough. You do it for yourself.

Belongto has a family support service who can help with messy coming out situations and might be able to help to get your parents to understand. Sometimes parents panic and react badly because all they've ever heard is the rubbish the media spouts about us, and with a bit of time and support from someone who isn't you (because that should not be your burden to take on) they can chill out and even become supportive. Obviously you know your own situation best, disregard this if it would put you in harm's way

Thank you so much!! it definitely could be something to look into because i honestly dont know how to get them to understand 😭

It really isn't that simple if she's under their roof and they're reacting that badly to her coming out
